82 UK Spec Laredo Scrambler Build No 2

No not the rear floor if thats what you are thinking CB, thanks to the hard top that part has mostly survived.
 
Biggest and hopefully the last piece i will need for quite a while although i have said that before. and usually something crops up......

Even though its a little different this year and maybe more different for some than others have a great Christmas everyone and best wishes from across the pond. :christmas:

World has gone mad and not had time to do anything on Jeep, but had 20 minutes to spend on it and decided to fit the new steering damper but then couldn't find the sleeve or the U bolts that hold it on.
The sleeve i can make but are these the same U bolts as prop shaft ones or are they different???

It's illegal in Australia to pull the doors off and given we're simply British Redknecks, I'm guessing it's also illegal back 'home' in the UK too.

That blue Scrambler is really pretty.

There was a stock option for no top or doors in the US. People have gotten out of no-door tickets when they show proof of that.
 
In Australia it's simply required to have doors. Neither Toyota nor Jeep were even able to get approval for soft doors in Australia. Victoria won't even allow you to take the roof off of a hard top- equipped rig.

Big brother is big in Australia. That's why I live here.

I believe it also has to do with how crash tests were done - which applies to more recent vehicles anyway.
 
I like the look of the half doors with no top - gives a cleaner line from the side, but that sure looks nice though. good looking Scrambler.
I don't recall ever seeing one in blighty.

I can drive round with no doors or windscreen thats not an issue at all, until it rains of course..., the 6 hasn't worn its doors for years.

I know of 3 other 8s over here none of which i have seen for a very,very long time and i have no idea on condition, plus i am greedy and own 2 8s of course!.
Cjs and Yjs are pretty rare here anyway, same as i rarely see vintage Land Rovers anymore now that they are becoming collectable so therefore valuable.
So either the CJs that gor shipped here are all rusted away or someone other than me is hoarding them all.

Here are a couple of older Rovers I have seen out in Cali. The better conditioned one has been around for awhile at $ 49K for a while and the other just popped up at 18K

Not sure if the US are getting them but the new defenders are here and although they seem a nice piece of kit they are very,very expensive :(
And also built in Slovakia, not sure if thats good or bad?
