I have two Scramblers that are "modified", this one is mostly "stock", but not 100% original, if that makes sense.
Posing in the typical Jeep CJ "I'm broke down" stance:
Posing in a parking lot:
1983 Sherwood Green Jeep Scrambler SR, around 125,000 miles. Mostly stock, not 100% original. I will list not "100% stock/original" in
bold below:
Paint job - stock/original color that the Jeep came from the factory wearing,
previous owner re-painted it
Tires -close to stock size, but they are actually
30x9.50's, so not 100% stock, but close
Wheels - stock 7" wheels,
previous owner painted them to match the hard top/door trim and added chrome trim rings
Suspension -
1" Superlift springs/shocks, polyurethane bushings
Engine - mostly stock, except belts/hoses have been changed out, currently restoring all the computer controlled carb stuff,
Team Rush Upgrade installed (Ford cap/rotor/plug wires, MSD coil)
Transmission - stock T5, that needs to be rebuilt, I added a
B&M short shifter (love it!!!!)
Transfer case - stock Dana 300, loose front output shaft, needs to be rebuilt
Front axle - all stock from hub to hub, 3.31 gears, wide track, except
Lube Locker diff cover gasket
Rear axle - stock wide track 3.31 gear/Trac-Lock LSD,
Moser 1-Piece axle shafts
Stock PS/PB and 15 gallon fuel tank
Other "not 100% stock/original" items:
Previous owner installed diamond tread on factory side steps
Previous owner installed chrome door/hood/WS hinges
Previous owner recovered factory seats/door panels (looks good IMO)
Original owner installed "2 post" cassette deck with under dash mounted EQ (not stock, but "period correct"
Previous Owner repainted doors brown where it is a decal from the factory, repainted hard top (looks good IMO)
Previous owner had the factory decals remade, except the hood decal
I added a "correct" stock rear bumper, and a NOS roll bar spare tire mount.
I am only the third owner of this Scrambler, but the original owner/2nd owner did make some changes. The stereo was installed because the original owner bought the brand new Scrambler for his high school age son to drive. When his son went to college, the Scrambler was parked. The second owner repainted the Scrambler, it needed it.
This was the first Scrambler that I bought. I wanted a "stock" one, this one fits the bill pretty well. While it is not a 100% original survivor, I enjoy it, and I am not too worried about "changes" that I make to it. But, this one will stay like this, just plan on rebuilding the mechanical components as they wear out.
