And to me my CJ-8s are scramblers and my scramblers are CJ-8s.
This is true... Except for Postals, they are the red headed step child and their owners should be beaten over the head with a mailbox.

I bought mine in 1983 new from the dealer.
Don makes a compelling argument in that most, or all, the literature simply states "Scrambler" and not CJ-8. My brief review supports this, and even the maintenance manual shows "CJ-5, CJ-7, Scrambler" on 1981 Jeep CJs.
None of which is counter to the argument that they're all CJ-8s. TJs, LJs, JKs have no other badging, Scramblers got CJ-8 badges from the factory. When the factory put both CJ-8 and Scrambler on there, they answered the original question.
Jersey hit the nail on the head.
I'm going to find something to hit with a mailbox.

...Scramblers are not the only CJ8 ever made...
...it's merely one of two versions that was released here in the United States and Canada...
...the other being the right-hand drive Alaskan Postal Units (U.S only).
...the other CJ8s released elsewhere thoughout the world, often given different names or built slightly different but on nearly identical platforms.
This those guys over at JeepForum.com are known to be credible resources.
Since no one has asked yet, I will, what about the Scopions? Are all Scramblers Scorpions? Are all Scorpions Scramblers?![]()
