Been a while since we had a Beer thread...

Two for tonight, one for me and one for my wife.

Her's is a black pepper, mango, and honey wine. It is comes from B. Nektar Meadery in Ferndale, MI. Hard to describe this, it tastes good, just not my normal stuff. Light yellow in color and does have a wine flavor. Did not taste the pepper or mango though. 6% ABV

My selection was the latest Founders small batch release called Mango Magnifico. This is labeled as a Malt Beverage with mango and a hint of habanero. It almost seems a little thick to drink, the mango is prevalent as the flavor but there is a nice heat note at the end. Another great release from Founders.

My neighbor started a meadery. Interesting stuff.

That mango is one I'll never try. Your review cemented that. Guess they can't all be winners.

Speaking of Founders. I've had this one for a while and broke it out for friends in from San Diego.

Very nice barley wine.

Went well with Old Bay basil bacon wrapped shrimp:

I had a bottle of Bolt Cutter when it was released, didnt care for it.

Do you generally like barleywines? It's not for everyone, took me a number of tries before I got into it. I usually do it when I'm not in a real serious beer mode as an alternative to a glass of wine.

I did these two yesterday at the neighbors pool:

Centennial is always a favorite and I'd never seen or had the 1554 from New Belgium. Very very nice, like a much better Guiness Black Lager, lighter and slightly sweet. I can definitely see a lot more of those in my future.

Also had some home brew vanilla porter that was WAY too carbonated, but tasted nice.

Almost bought some Centennial IPA tonight but went with something else.

So I went to the Teeter and decided to stock the fridge a bit. Picked up a few six packs that were on sale that I thought I would try and picked up the Saranac variety pack that has the anniversary IPA "Legacy". Pretty good IPA.

Nothing like a Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA while enjoying Long Beach Islands ocean breeze.

Well maybe if it was 120 minute IPA

LOVE 90 Minute! We have 60 Minute alot around here, sometimes see 90 and rarely ever see 120. One of the brands I miss having better access to back in NC for sure.

They don't even distribute Dogfish Head in Louisiana. I have to order it by the case from an online distributor.

For the last year+ of work on the Jeep I have been able to soak down some growlers from a friend's newly opened brewery. He brews some good beer. Never hurts to have an engineer working to run a consistent chemical process.

The stout (with hints of vanilla and coffee flavor) has been the best in my opinion so far.

image.jpgTonights brew is a continually hopped Imperial Pils from Dogfish called My Antonia. Heady pour and extremely hoppy that sits on the tongue.

After a long day in the woods this was the 5pm beer. Crooked line DIPA from Salt Lake City via certifiable jeep. Thanks Craig.

Crooked Line makes some interesting-and pricey- beers.
