bigwalton's Postal Stroker

That was my reaction as well and why I asked about it, that's when he replied with the summary above. I guess I'm saying that if I'm a bit of a guinea pig here, so be it  worth it

I'm just saying that the injector sizing seems big. If he has tuned these before, he should have a pretty good grasp at the lb/hr he would need.
Yes he has tuned on a stroked inline 6 engine. We both did some part time work together at a local 4x4 shop and had a high end cj-7 sema build come through. The guy was the 3rd or 4th person to buy the jeep and it never ran right. Turns out it never ran right from the get go and thats why it kept changing hands. It had edelbrock aluminum head, a wild cam and a bunch of other goodies. It took him a bit but he got it right and it was impressive to drive!

Everything that needed to get to Eli to get going on the harnesses, programming and testing has arrived at his place. The last piece of the puzzle was a Newcomer Racing 68 MM throttle body with the 2-screw MAP to add more air to go with the fuel from the big ol' injectors (as has been discussed).
I need to do two measurements for the harness to give Eli and then get the engine up here from OH :woohoo:

So Sam was selling the entire Scrambler as it had been sitting for a number of years (since before the initial stroker build and subsequent redo) and it turns out that the rolling chassis minus the stroker was perfect for @dmorolli and the two Scramblers he's working on with/for his sons. So the plan was hatched to run down to northern KY to Sam's new place, bring the whole thing back up to my place, drop it off the trailer, pull the stroker, put the rest back on the trailer and Dave would take the roller home.

Dave was at my place at 6 AM and we rolled down, making it well before lunch.

After checking out Sam and Minnie's new house and INSANE shop and house, it was time to look over the Jeep/stroker and get things loaded up.

@Cincyjeeprs and his wife Beth came over to say hi...

and we got to see this work of art... (the cardboard just happened to be there... I swear)

Once we were loaded, it just happened to be Skyline Time... er, lunch time.

Then we rolled back to my place...

(Dave was blinking, not sleeping)

It was getting dark when we got back to my house, so we went right to work and didn't get any photos of dropping the Jeep/pulling the stroker. Sam just had the stroker in with four bolts in the trans and the engine mounts, so it wasn't much to pull it in the driveway. He'd removed the grille recently, so we just pulled it back off.

This was Sam's only Jeep and he's not planning on getting back into another CJ, so he was literally getting rid of everything Jeep/CJ. So Dave ended up with a handful of bonus parts and I scored three sweet hoods and a spare grille that will be perfect for the front of our shed at the dune house (which I've been looking to do since we got the place but everyone seems to think CJ grilles are made of gold now).

I've barely been able to get into the garage and I had a more pressing issue with Mater, so all I've done with the stroker thus far is start to clean it up from the dust and grime from sitting.

Lots and lots and lots more to come...

In other news, the harness assembly process has begun at Eli's. :smokin:

Sadly, I have done nothing on the Postal itself other than deciding that I was going to pull the windshield washer bottle and use that spot for mounting the Holley Terminator X Max ECU. The 2x4 is very nearly the dimensions of the ECU, used it for fit-up.

Will you be visiting us down here to get the stuff from Eli? Or is he shipping it to you?

Last drive of the 4.0L version of the Postal.
Seems fitting that it was in the snow.

Rewire, stroker swap and lots of other little things start now. Ordered an oil catch can and proper coolant overflow bottle from Motion Raceworks on their Black Friday sale.

Is there a crack in the valve cover (back or left most bolt closest to the picture), or is that a casting mark?

Well, nothing has been posted because nothing more has happened until today.

The harness is done, Eli just has some testing left with the throttle body and it’ll make its way up to me.

I finally got started on the engine bay, working to get things separated enough to get the grille and fenders off.

Working at the wiring, between all the different things I’ve added, the 4.0, the stock wiring… it was like peeling back years and watching myself learn things in reverse. It was cathartic and pleasing where I actually thought it was going to be difficult. Knowing I could redo it all (the stuff that’s staying) as new, knowing what I know now.

Today’s progress.

So much progress, really…

And I would wager that this is the first time that the stock engine bay harness has been separated from the bulkhead since this left the factory.

It’s on like Donkey Kong now… pulled the seats too because I hope not to have to pull the dash since I did the Speedhut install all at once and did it pretty cleanly (and without pulling the dash.)

I also borrowed a nice set of wheel dollies from @dmorolli this morning so I can more easily work on this (and kick Kate’s jeep out of the garage)

Now you’re getting somewhere!

This is the spot I would struggle. Fenders off and the opportunity to clean things that aren't normally easy or temptation to upgrade shock or other fun things (that would sidetrack my timeline).

Are you keeping the AW4?

Yes, that’s going to be hard for sure but between budget and timing I know it will be multiple years if I try to go that route.

Oh, and yes, keeping the AW4
