Central Colorado Scramble???

(managed to keep a Scrambler together for four years ain't no rookie) ??? Hell after jeeping in a Scrambler for 13 almost 14 years I still feel like a rookie at times! I have had some sort of a Jeep under my butt since I was old enough to push the clutch in on the Ranch up in Wyoming. If you feel like your a Pro then you better think twice. Mother Nature or old man Coyote is going to slap you silly before you know which end of your jeep is sticking up...... Never take it for granted. Anything can and will go wrong at some of the worst times if you get to big of a ego while Jeeping.... Keep it safe and on the trail!

I have to say though this is the first time I will have the chance to see more then one Scrambler sitting there. I think I will burn at least two or three rolls of film on what some of you guys have done for upgrades on your rigs! But please do poke to much fun at my old stocker. It has been a true friend and my Malamute might be getting to old to climb in it any more but she still thinks of it as being hers... and I would hate to hurt her feelings....... If she can even make the trip this year????


This is looking to be a super time from the feel of it. Might be some good campfire stories going around to listen to and learn from...
 
If my rig gets out of the shop soon enough I might come up. I got two jobs to work around though, so I probably will just join you guys for a day (I don't live to far away). Just getting that one day off might be hard enough- I might have to get Turborculosis for a day, if you catch my meaning...

Also, I am very unexperienced in 4-wheeling and although I got lockers and a wench my wheels are not big (stocked size I think) and I believe that may give me some trouble. I want to get some 35's on it but that requires a body lift, and a body lift will probably require a new suspension setup, and all of this requires $$.

So anyways, let me know when and where to meet you guys- it will be fun to meet all you, even if I don't hit the trail.

I don't know how rookie got under my name. I didn't put it there. My "scrangler" as I call it is actually only a year old. It has found its way onto its lid already and its side several times. I know all about mother nature giving you a slap to wake you up. I'm by no means a pro, just a fellow wheeler who likes this sport. Lookig forward to wheeling with a bunch of scramblers. Mike
 
Man the high country is looking really good guys! the stream flows are really fun right now while crossing them. I love seeing a wave hit the windshield as I slowly plod my way across the snow melt run off here in Colorado. Don't know how many of you have parked in the stream and fly fished out the back of your jeep but it does work! Just keep a eye on the water level as the day goes along.


Dan don't know if you have ever been up along the St. Vrain or not. Not very technical for most of it but it is like riding the river bed the whole way... I did get to see that the snow if still very deep in some spots in the shade but melting fast! The fishing is really picking up! The Bull elk are in velvet and heading back up the ridges right now and it is Spring in the Rockies!

I'm almost as giddy as a kid on his first date,man this is gonna be beter than the San Juan Scramble last year,and as good as the first date with that special girl,friends,scramblers,campfire,bar-b-q,Great freinds and fellowship,the rockies, what more could a Jeeper ask for?-Man life is good!-JC:D

I like your style JC......Are you ready for the Long I-70 haul into Idaho Springs.....Leave Tulsa Wednesday night or Thursday morning if ya wanna hook up for the run..... Doin' a rear disc break conversion in the morning....Gettin it done...Gonna be there!!!
 
Sounds like we're all getting excited and "scramblin" to get our scrambler's ready for the trip. I need to work on my back brakes, replace a rear pinion seal and try and fix a leaky valve cover! Hopefully everything else will stay together long enough for the trip!!
 
I left my transfer case out at Mike's shop at noon today for a fix. I think I am the only person I know to have a Dana 300 go bad on them. But should have it ready to go in time for the Scramble. Really looking forward to it. I have not been out playing since the EJS in April!

JC - yea it will be great to meet you and hopefully several of the different Scrambler owners from the board. It will also be fun to see Dan again too. Shucks, it will be even fun to wheel in CO with my friends from KS.

I have been kind of wavering back and forth on this since Dan created this post back in December. I posted back then that it really caught my attention. I like the idea of the Scrambles but I have wheeled the San Juan's so many times that I can just not get interested in going back there for now. I have never been on any of the trails that Dan has laid out. They will all be new!

I havn't touched the project Scrambler since late winter. I spent a lot of time prepping for the EJS trip. Then I had to take care of things at home for a while. Now the 83 needs attention again for this trip.

My wife is coming with me on this trip which only happens occasionally. It will be nice to have a companion for that long haul across western KS and eastern CO and also on the trails.

Yo Phil,

I met some of your pals last night. Kent (KSZJ, who has a red Scrambler) stopped by my house last night with a group of folks from out there. They had very good things to say about you. They were a really great bunch of people and the one guy is getting married on the Holy Cross trail on Saturday at Holy Cross City. How cool is that, getting married on a trail.

Any way very nice friends of yours there. To bad they cant make it back out for the Scramble.

Dan, Did you get more snow up on the ridge last night?? I could see some fresh stuff on this side of the big sledding hill..... The flowers will be in full bloom while we are enjoying the ride from the way it looks right now! Can't wait! Went out and replaced my old worn out Hi Lift just in case. Now I know I will get stck someplace for sure.....

Dan, looks like we will make it, been quiet for awhile since it was up in the air. Still keeping the same meeting point and time? It will be me and a buddy from Denver, Shawn, aka Da Pozer. Both of us have to work Thursday so we may not make the initial meeting time friday moring. What else you got planned for Friday? Got a time and place to meet for the afternoon run? Is there an afternoon run? We will be camping somewhere around Empire, Shawn's got a buddy with a cabin up there. Our travel plans are not definite yet, if all else fails we'll see you Sat morning (where/when?)

Same place as been posted all along. Clear Creek supply 8:45am.

As for an afternoon run.............no we will leave town shortly after meeting and not be back in town until late in the afternoon.

Look forward to seeing you on Saturday if you dont make it Friday. Glad you get to come. Your friend here is a Scrambler driver as well, thats great. I'm actually very suprised at how many there are around here.

This is going to be great fun folks.

Looks like the final days of get things in order. After playing last Friday night with about 8 miles of rough road I blasted a couple of bushing out and will be repairing with new shackles and eye bolt bushings for the ride up and over the mountain on the 11th. Glad I found out before a full day out. Dan how many Scramblers do you think will be up there?? This is going to be a fun weekend. I hope I can make it for all 3 days.
