Today Terry (trust) and I were on the same trail here at EJS. Terry was the tail gunner, and I was near the front of the line so we didn't get any photos of our Jeeps together on the trail, but here's his outstanding CJ-8 next to my LJ-8 at the end of the trail. BTW if you've never taken a close look at Terry's rear roll bar/cargo setup, you should, it's first class design and implementation work.

Wow youre fast on the post there Jeff!

Thank you for the kind words. It was great seeing you and Heather today we had a good group on a scenic trail, the best of all worlds

jscherb, were you rolling west on I-80 last Friday?
Saw a black LJ with safari cab just east of Des Moines, IA.
Thought to myself, wonder if that was jscherb haeding to Moab.

We were on our way to Cedar Rapids, IA to pick up this JK for my cousin.

Got any cool JK unlimited tops in the works?
This one came top and door less.
What you see is what we got.

Have fun safe trip!

I'm working on a JK version of the Safari Cab now. Got most of the molds done, just a few to finish up.

Here are a few concept drawings of the JK2dr and JKU versions:

And some of the first JKU parts out of the molds - side panels with flip-out windows, the rear panel and the barn door upper:

But I digress... :)

Say, Jeff, I see you're not carrying those side-mount gas cans. Did they not work out?

They worked out great, and they're in production and available now. I don't need extra fuel on this trip, so I'm not carrying the cans - since they mount in receivers that are bolted to the frame, I can easily install/remove the can holders in a minute whenever I need them.

I used them all the way to the Arctic Ocean on the north slope of Alaska and back last July, as well as on my Colorado offroad trip last September. The photo below shows both the side-mount and the spare-mount jerry can carriers on the trail in Colorado, on that trip I was testing pre-production units from the company that's manufacturing them.

The company has a booth here at the Easter Jeep Safari Vendor Expo and will be selling them, they'll also very shortly be in the Extreme Terrain catalog, and may soon be available from other sources as well.

On this trip I'm testing a pre-production "Excursion Rack", which mounts to the spare...

That will be popular. No doubt

Wow...that looks amazing.

So awesome. I hope Gr8Tops picks it up too!

Thank you very much.

At this point I don't know if the JK Safari Cab will get to production. There has been some interest in it, also some interest in the barn door as a standalone product - the barn door is compatible with the factory JK hardtop so you could convert to a barn door without having to go for the whole hardtop. After I get one (or maybe two) prototypes finished and installed on JKs I'll decide if I'm interested in having a company pick it up for production.

I shard the pics on my local forum (a lot of JKs) and there was a lot of positive responses. Just saying. And the barn door would seal the deal for me.

Jeff, after our plowing discussion yesterday i noticed a set of tracks in the bed of a pickup on the main drag just north of the 'river' that have a for sale sign on them. Made me think you need them for your next winter like this one...

Are they available now from that company, online? Got a trip coming up that I could use a pair.

They may be, the best way to find out is to go to their site (http://www.morryde.com/product-category/9-jeep-accessories), click on the "Contact Us" link, and ask them. The emails go right to the person who's the main contact for the Jeep stuff, and he's very responsive.

I saw them too, in fact I took a picture of them. This past winter I had several snowfalls where there was so much snow the LJ needed a running start to plow through the drifts, the tracks would have helped!

Was wondering if they have a 5-on-4.5 bolt circle to fit the LJ-8 :).

Back in October when I completed the molds for the barn door, a friend and and I molded one for his 2014 JKU. He's got the factory hardtop, so this was a test of the compatibility of the barn door with the factory top. We installed a wiper and defroster grid in it, so it's functionally and electrically compatible with the factory functions. He's been running it on his Jeep (in primer) ever since, and says he'll never go back to a liftgate :).

Here's a photo he took during the Buffalo winter.

Since he's got a 2014, the hatch opening in his hardtop is the wide one; the molds can make both the an early model tailgate-width barn door and the later model wide barn door.
