Gazzo's Down-under CJ thread

Still thinking about colour for the truck. A JK went past my house the other day and it was a wicked green colour, some research tells me it's a 2013 only colour called Commando and if you squint a bit you can see my CJ10 in this livery with black rims etc

Haha that's funny. You know we have an ad on telly at the moment for sports bet, online betting on your phone. The guy is standing in a pub with some mates and he sees a likely wager and grabs his phone "oh no, only 1% battery left!" Quickly, and of course easily as the advertising company wants you to see, he presses only a couple of buttons and his bet is placed. Right then his phone screen lights up with an incoming call "WIFEY" at which point the little rotating clock symbol shows up and it's dead. Old mate looks at his buddies and says "oh well".

Kinda humorous I guess. Makes me laugh.

I got onto the liner inside and out on the truck this morning. Was able to spray DuPont bed liner with a engine bay gun which worked ok.

The join you can see is where I welded on a Key Parts floor pan. Very happy with how it turned out. I was able to blast the stuff deep into all the seams and joints.
No pictures but on the 8 I found I needed new brakes up front so I got rotors, bearings and already had pads so that all finished up real nice, no steel on steel stopping now :tea:

Looks great! I have a hard time finding time to even move my parts around in the shop. I need to pull the tubs on both of my '7's. Guess I'll get around to it one of these decades.
 
Nice job on all your Jeeps. Are you going to bring the 10 back original or modify it?

Update. Getting into the paint realm. Got the fenders and front bits blasted, 6 out of ten for their efforts. Hit and miss job. Anyway got those under etch epoxy pretty quick so that's good. No pix sorry. Also decided late to take front clip, windscreen frame and the stripped out doors to them. Get them back this week and will prime as soon as I have them.
Today i woke up to myself and responded to a week old add for a GW 89 for 5 grand. What a knob to have missed it. 35000ks and garaged no rust. Now I'm super sad. I don't think the guy knew what he had, he coulda got 20k for that here. We were only given 28 of them.

I may have mentioned I have my Overlander in residence with me in town for a freshen up before summer. I've done the breaks up front which are peachy now so next I'll turn my attention to the deck. There's a plate been put poorly in the drivers side floor, that would be the RIGHT or CORRECT, side and it's nothing more than a bent bit of sheet screwed and glued in. That will get done right next year. For now though I'm thinking about attacking the whole floor with phosphoric, then wire buffing then phosphoric again. Dry it all out and clean then a zinc rich paint. After that I reckon I'll spray on the same polyurethane bed liner I've used in the truck tub. I'm happy with that stuff and think that when the time comes to grind and cut on the tub I can just respray accordingly.
I need this tub to be preserved for ever and to be able to properly handle sand, salty feet, salty soggy doggies etc then be hosed out. Of course I'll be paying particular attention to all the seems and so on. The plan after that will be to squirt some good rustproofing or fisholene all around the underside and backwards up into those same seams.
Sound like a plan?

On the truck I will get doors, clip and screen frame back tomorrow and get them under etch. We didn't blast the door skins, they would have deformed most likely so a little more sanding tomorrow morning first.
My buddy with the two white Overlanders went ahead and ordered me a new screen frame at the same time as he ordered his so that's a nice surprise. I was going to rust repair my original one and may still do depending on how good or bad the new one is. Kinda like the idea of not wrestling to get things lined up if using the original. But I like not having to repair rust more :thumbsup:

Pointy door seals

So the million dollar question, probably asked a bunch of times before. Where are we getting our pointy corner door seals from? I see Morris and qtec have normal round corner ones. I can double up on an order and "cut-n-shut" to get what I need but I thought I'd ask you lot first in case someone has the silver bullet. I'll need to make up internal runners and the outside seals.
It's not a problem for my doorless jeeps but the truck will be wearing doors always and in the weather a lot.

Hmmm. I've practically given up on JF with my threads over there. As Matt noted on a thread over there, there are three pages discussing T5 gear oil, sheesh. My thread on my truck is probably one of the all time lowest interest threads there even though everyone "wishes they had a CJ10". Must be just me.
So I'm hangin here a lot more and enjoying it so I ask a fairly topical question with a very genuine request for help from my pointy door brethren and again I get the sound of crickets.
Oh well :rant off:
I shall carry on. Hate sounding like a whining be arch. Sorry folks.

Yeah what he said.. Dont take it the wrong way gazzo. If you asked for a new old stock 1984 tachometer we would say the same thing. Like finding a needle in a haystack. A barn sized haystack. !
 
I get that BW, thanks, but has no one ever invented a fix for this problem. I'll have to put my thinking cap on.
