Getting Back at it!

I got a notice from the post office that the box was leaking and has to be picked up at the post office.

Hopefully it's just a slightly leaky cap. Been looking forward to more sauce from you for a long time!

Let me know, I'll get ya a new bottle if it didn't make it. I'm thinking fermented sauce needs to be shipped earlier in the spring or I'll have to get ice packs for shipping them.

Well the pineapple was fine. The Candy Ass didn't fare so well.

Don't worry about sending a replacement now. Paying shipping again would negate your fundraising attempts for a good cause.

I can get one from you next time you do a batch of sauces.

Oldest kid and I are excited to try the pineapple though! Thanks man!

The pineapple leaked just a little bit in the box for me, totally usable though. The other was fine.

Both of mine made it across the country to Oregon just fine. Like Russian Roulette, sometime you win, sometimes you lose. Probably some postal people have fun tossing packages from the farthest distance.

Now you’re talking brown for farthest distance tossed. Witnessed it 40 years ago where I worked. Several boxes over 25 feet. He was really mad that day.

Box on mine was good. Just could smell the leak when I opened it.

No leaks here. Just bottles of goodness!

I guess when there's a bubble wrap shortage(couldn't find any anywhere locally) tissue paper isn't the best sub. Think I'm gonna look into boxes specifically made fro shipping bottles.

I think each bottle in a zip-lock bag, then wrapped in some of the thin bubble wrap should work.

I've done some shipping through the business where some liquid containers have leaked. Seems that when they have encountered a flight during shipping, that's when we've had leakage.

I had guys I knew back in my younger days who worked the belt at UPS.

They would toss boxes into the air to land on the belt and see if they could hear what was in the box from the sound of the impact. Bonus points if it had "Fragile" or similar on the box.

But you had these packed well enough to make it here short of someone like those guys handling it on the way.

Sad that you have to triple pack stuff and THEN pay through the nose to ship it, or risk it arriving damaged.

I work for a FedEx Contractor, I unfortunately know how stuff gets handled at times. I've shipped hundreds of these things over the last 8 years or so and have always used bubble wrap and SFR boxes, this is the first broken bottle, and the first leaking ones as well(also the first time I've sent a fermented one out), It's all a learning curve, I've found some packaging I like, but haven't found an affordable source yet.

Well the eldest kid (who eats raw habaneros without changing her facial expression) opened the Nuclear Pineapple last night. We tried a bit on Ruffles, because that's what was sitting on the counter.

I had it in the fridge upon Neil's suggestion.

Initially was super hot (good) but not a lot of sweetness. It had settled a bit while she fought the lid seal, so she shook it up again. There's the sweet and hot! Of course, it fizzed a bit after shaking it up, so I got sauce all over my fingers. Then I rubbed my eye.....

You'd think in almost 50 years on the planet I'd be smarter than that, but apparently not. LOL

Anyhow, I'm going to have to move fast or the kid will eat the whole bottle before I get any. We give the new flavor an enthusiastic two thumbs up! Initially the sweet had settled, but after a vigorous shaking the stuff was awesome.

I do that all the time, I've gotten used to it though and suffer through it.

Stir fried some vegetables, chicken, and a little teriyaki last night. My eldest put some Nuclear Pineapple on it and it was amazing!
