Heads up: Tapatalk going away on CJ-8.com

When I logged on just now I got the message "Cj-8.com says there's an app for Android , download Tapatalk today". Just a heads up.

Yep, despite the fact that I have it set not to. We're close to getting rid of it.

Hadn't tried to use tapatalk in months but saw yet another update today claiming to once again "improve" the user interface and opened it. These were the first few screens in my "feed" that I was greeted with. Note there were only two forum post links in with all of this $@&? Too.

AND I see that they brought BACK Tapatalk PRO again!?!?!? This company has their heads so far up their backsides that they can chew their food again on the way down.

This was the VERY FIRST THING IN MY FEED

Strongly suggest you start using a mobile browser to get used to it. Tapatalk should be gone by this weekend.

The good news is we have confirmed the ability to both save off all of the images uploaded to Tapatalk AND replace the links in the threads where they were used.

Again, to reiterate, we are LATE to the ditch Tapatalk party as confirmed when our forum software consultant indicated that he'd moved many of his customers off of it starting more than a year ago.

Posted from my iPhone via the main forum theme in Chrome ;)

Excellent work on getting the picture thing figured out. That was BIGLY.

I use tapatalk on an iPhone SE and whatever Version I have on here since getting the new phone 4-5 months ago. There are zero ads and no nonsense whatsoever it's the forum at its absolute best for me being a mobile user and I am on here ALOT, I swipe tapatalk on average once an hour. But I do see what you mean there. I now 1000 percent understand , let alone the back room nonsense you are dealing with them as a site owner. What you show there in those screen shots are EXACTLY the reason I stay miles away from Jeepforum. I'd tapatalk was that choked up for me,I would have made the switch many many moons ago.

 :usflag:

I'm glad I never used Tapatalk. I always use the regular forum software set on Slate blue. Never have a problem.

@BW- yup... it's become overrun with ads and agendas. Time to get off the wagon. Wish I'd never started on it. Now I'm gonna have to go through some detox but it's for the better without a doubt!

Very aware that there will be detox, but that's a good way to put it. They counted on the easy access to keep people attracted as they just wrecked the UI and tried to build out their own layer of community on top of the very forums that kept them in business.

I seriously LOLed when I saw Tapatalk Pro was back after the mess they made in killing it off. Perfect example of their complete dysfunction.

Well, if that is the last trime you bring it up on line, at least James and I were there for you.

After thought! Want me to help work on it? I could probably delete it or something.

For what it's worth, I never use that "feed" button at the bottom. I always go to "home > Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler Forum > Unread" and see all the new forum posts without any ads.

The screenshot shows " new posts" instead of "unread" because I had already marked all the posts as "read" which removes them until new ones come along. Anyways you get the idea.

That's pretty much what I have Breal, although I use "timeline" give it a swipe, and it gives me anything new across all posts and no ads. For what it's worth, agreed.

So, if what seemed to be the two biggest problems, ads and ability to keep our photos, have been solved does it still make sense to drop this service?

Is anyone getting ads when they select "home" at the bottom of the screen and view the forum through there? If so please share screenshots.

I do not have a problem with ads

I don't have a ton of ads. And none on the Scrambler forum. But what I have noticed is that in my notifications, I am told about threads in forums I am not a part of. Trying to get me to click them and become a part of it. I do use TT (using it right now), but am fine with it going away. I will just use my tablet more for this forum so I can see the text better without having to spread the screen to see it. Getting old sucks.

And I don't even touch that "Feed" button. Just did to see what I got.

No. There is absolutely no possibility that we keep Tapatalk.

And three days later.. fixing more of the crap they broke and apparently they pissed off iPad users so badly they felt the need to address their anger in the update message. It's like they're trying to make as big a mess as possible.

Again, there's ample reason on the BACK END that you folks never see to drop them like a hot rock. I outlined some of this earlier. My pointing out the issues with the UI and insane updates, ads, chat room, etc is just amusement at how badly they are screwing things up.

Tapatalk will be gone this weekend. There is no option, arguing or alternative.

I see BW, sitting in his command center with a stiff drink and a big smile on his face as his finger falls upon the "delete TT" button.... finally!
