Is it possible to get an iTrader setup here on the forum? Our local board (greatlakes4x4.com) has it, and it seems to be very valuable. It works much like eBay feedback, and you can link to a specific For Sale or Wanted thread.

I just had someone here back out of a $300 deal, and I'm not a happy camper.

Input?

Why don't you use the Buyer/Seller Ratings? Looks like no one has used it since 2005.

Can you explain more about how iTrader works? Is it attched to individuals like ebay?

It's a static forum, therefore, people don't typically use it. Yes, iTrader is much like eBay. Your rating number is displayed under your username/avatar, and you can click on the number to view the actual comments.

Craig, I personally think we are to small of a community for something like that. Most folks that are one here regularly know enough about one another to know legitimacy of who you are dealing with. Beside the for sale section is an added benni to the community and I wouldn't want to tie something like that to our users. But that is just my opinion...

I respect your opinion Truck, but it seems to me that there is a substantially larger number of newer members relative to what there was in the past. I used to know most of the folks on this board (not necessarily personally, but I considered them friends). Now I might know 35-40% of the people. It's not the small family it used to be, IMO. I know the SOA member's site (cj-8.org) is currently the big focus, so I expect that this site will remain fairly static for any foreseeable future. I asked about iTrader, as my local board is also a VBB board, and I thought the functionality might also be easily available/implemented here.

Either way, I'll submit feedback in the appropriate forum. It says it's a moderated forum, but I'm not sure who moderates it. I just want to make sure my submission doesn't just drop off into nothingness.

What frustrates me most is that integrity has never been an issue on this board. The "family" feeling is what set this site apart from any other I had seen. I don't necessarily feel that way anymore.

In the meantime, I'd be careful when dealing with Darren (notquitemusashi). Initially, he seems like a nice guy, but has every excuse for not following through with the deal. He initially backed out of a committed deal, but was then nice enough to make a lowball offer after the fact to see if I'd still complete the deal on his revised terms.  Congrats on screwing me, and screwing yourself for any future parts deals with me and probably with a number of other folks here who know I'm a stand-up guy. I have no doubt that it'll eventually come back to bite you, Darren. Good luck to you.

you too seemed like a nice individual at first. then things didnt go your way.

i didnt lie to you.

people back out of deals all the time. i have had people agree to buy things all the time, then never reply and act like they had never heard of me. i told you what the deal was as soon as i read your email. i could have left you hanging in limbo for ever. i didnt. lots of things happen and there are dozens of reasons people dont complete deals. i didnt sell you something that wasnt what i said it was. i didnt try to tell you what you sold me wassnt what it was to try and get $ out of you. we talked about a deal. you said it would be ready after a certain weekend. in the interim 2 weeks i found one cheaper.

i am sorry you feel like you were injured in someway.

I quoted you just in case you decide to edit your reply. This statement alone speaks volumes to your character, Darren. All I can say is, "Wow." :( If you continue to have this outlook on honesty & integrity, the good folks here will run you out of town. It's not tolerated here, despite what you may be used to on other Jeep boards. You may want to step back and reconsider your warped sense of reality.

And for the record, I don't back out of deals...period. A man is only as good as his word.

quote me all you want craig.

you obviously are a far superior individual than i am. thanks for being a shining star to all of humanity.

Wow....

I've dealt with Craig before, and he's a 100% honest guy. I'd happily purchase from him at any time.

I would NEVER back out of a deal after I had committed. That's akin to breaking a promise, or going back on your word. And if you can't keep your promises, or can't honor your word, that makes you basically untrustworthy.
Trust is earned, after showing honesty and integrity. And...if you're not trustworthy,well...in my book...GOODBYE!

And yes, I've gone through with deals that I have either not needed or found better prices on because my word is worth something. I'll bet there are alot of guys here like that. Probably the majority.

Nuff said.

Well put Randy. The only thing in life that is truly yours is your word. What's yours worth? My word is my bond..

SALE PENDING on all remaining Laredo items. Thanks.

Craig hopefully that doesn't include the bumper....I was waiting for you to get back from vacation.

pghjeeper - I had a buyer with cash-in-hand, and couldn't pass up the opportunity. I apologize, but didn't know if you'd be a "sure thing" sale or not.
Craig

i'll bet pghjeeper felt like craig didnt keep his word.

i can use craigs excuse and say it wasnt a sure thing because he was selling something that wasnt in his possesion yet. he didnt have it in his control so i wasnt convinced if it was a "sure thing". i made other arrangements. it was cheaper.

pghjeeper wanted to discuss shipping options/price; we had not firmed up a deal. The last shipping quote I received for an item of this size was very cost-prohibitive. Even so, I did feel bad, and let him know that.

You know that I had already purchased the vehicle (it was paid for a month ago).

Keep rationalizing...

To you other guys, thanks for the support, and affirmation regarding the importance of having integrity.

Craig

look dude, i could have emailed you and said " my kid is sick" or "my dog died" or " i got hurt and cant work for a few weeks, so i cant get it"

i didnt, i told you straight up what the deal was. you werent "wenzeled" nor did i take stuff from you and cancelled the check the next day. i didnt steal anything from you.

you ever gone to a store and had them order something and then found it cheaper somewhere else and not bought from the first place? .

you ever bought something and then found it cheaper and gone back to the place that sold it to you asking for a refund or the differance back?everyone has

I have worked with Craig on several transactions, and that was before I became active on this forum. He has always been honest and fair with his pricing and shipping. His communication for transactions is better than most people I have dealt with when buying online. To use this kind of language about someone you don't know....is childish and not acceptable here.

The men on this forum are genuine, caring and ALL watch out for each other. Be careful of the language used here and respect those that come to this forum for advice or to learn about their new Scramblers. This is becoming a childish fight and the kind of crap one would expect of children, not men. Let it go and move on.

Craig, we all know you would not do or say something if it were not true. To the other guys, things happen, but like Craig mentioned, we all watch out for each other here and to bring flame posts to this forum, is just not what we do here.

So, if there is more to be said, past it between IM's or emails or just let it go and get back to the real task at hand....Jeeping.

NUff said for now....

Well put. Not acceptable on this forum.

Move on.............

Let's use Buyer / Seller ratings instead of Attacks

Sobrbear said it very eloquently. Let's use this as a lesson in how things can devolve quickly into an ugly shouting match.

In the future, let's make better use of the Buyer / Seller ratings. I would think that this would be especially helpful for someone who sells (or buys) a lot of parts on this site. It would also be helpful for me, just starting to buy parts and unsure about who is a trustworthy seller. So this was ugly, but let's use it as a lesson and move forward.

That said, this post started as an attack. Craig, for better or worse, this is not the first time you've posted a scathing attack on someone who crossed you. It invites a negative response. And in defense of a newbie, how is he supposed to know how far to take it? Other boards are far less diplomatic. So let us (the ones who have been here a while) take the high road, and show the new guys how it's done. When posting feedback on the Buyer/Seller ratings, let's keep it to the facts.

Thanks.

Mods, please remove the Chris Fewell post (and ban him?). It's in poor taste.

I AM IN NO WAY RELATED TO CHRISFEWELL and i have no brothers, for the record.

i am not even questioning his integrity, i am just saying that people do, for whatever reason, back out of deals. it happens.

i could have made up some excuse for craig, i didnt. i told him straight up, he flipped out. whatever. i dont care. if craig deals with little things in this manner, i would hate to see what he does when something really does go awry.

craig, relax dude.
