It's time to start making some changes.....

There going to be enough room for the coil overs with coils on when the suspension is flexed? the top inside of the tire is going to push inwards. no?
 
I have to use some wheel spacers for now. My plan going forward is to build a new rear housing(so I do not have to use wheel spacers) and swap the front 9" out for a HP44 before I do the front 3 link. The coilover will be canted forward to get out of that pinch area however.

So as usual, nothing turns out easy. I purchased some lower shock mounts hoping to save a little time instead of building everything. Unfortunately as usual they did not work with what I have going on here. I got my upper mount cut and recessed into the frame now. I put the tower up as high as I could go into the corner without getting into the body itself. Now I had to build my own offset lower mounts to drop the shock a bit lower so the shock does not bottom out before my compressed height. I have to remove the pieces now and final weld them so it can be fully welded to the frame. I have a few hours tomorrow so I might start cutting on the other side. I need to re-engineer my lower mounts again because i need another inch of travel because I missed it that the existing bump stop wasn't compressed as much as the driver's side....Grrrr.... Even I make mistakes.... I'm also guessing a bit because I'm setting it all up predicting how the 37's will fit when I can afford them. Everything today took way longer than I expected unfortunately. I expected to get both towers on and to get a start on installing these disc brakes. Not so much.......
 
So far so good......The rear towers are cut and installed other than some bracing now. Next on the list is to order some coilover springs since the rates are just a touch on the soft side right now along with dealing with some coil bind. The shocks when cycled fit the area perfectly with the current location of the mounts. Once the axle is centered, it will get a bit better. I have a little interference on the back side of the brake backing plate but those will be going away shortly with the installation of discs in their place. This thing cycles smooth with no weird transitions as it's loaded and has quite a bit of travel which is cool. Now I just need to get the bump stops mounted and a cross bar for a central mounted limit strap.
 
No rubbing once I center the axle by adjusting the links. It'll be about 3/4" from each end of the openings when compressed.

The rear discs are finally on now after a lot of heartache along with the hydraulic bump stops. Everything is painted and done. I'm still waiting on two pairs of coilover springs and then it's time to reseal the shocks. With the discs in place now, i have lots of room where the spring was hitting the backing plate before. Tomorrow morning I might head back to the shop and build the brake lines on the rear axle before I load it up to bring it back home. Time is a tickin' with not many weekends before EJS and a full page of things I'd like to do before then...

Never noticed before, who's gas tank is that and what's the capacity?

So......in the summer does the gas just boil in the line sitting there, or does it wait for a inline pump to pull a vacuum on the suction side to cause vapor lock :confused::crazy::rotfl:


And the Jeep is looking good as always, nice work. :bow:
 
The hottest part of the year, I sometimes could hear the return fuel gassing off as it got back into the tank. My return goes back thru a tube and returns to the bottom of the tank. Now that I have a single fuel line to the engine, it does not pick up that extra heat. But yes, the fuel gasses off and the pump can not pull a vacuum on a gas.....
 
The rear TK1 sway bar is temporarily mounted and now it's off to get some exhaust on this thing. There is "just" enough room to mount the muffler vertical but the sway bar really closes off the room. It's time to get creative with some U-bends now.
