Jeep Invasion- Pigeon Forge

I totally get the people piece and having a great time with your wife!

The rest, I simply can't understand why it wouldn't be better to do something away from all the insanity. I have no need whatsoever to impress JK people. (Of course my junk wouldn't impress most anyone.)

I have now seen that there was some sort of obstacle course thing, but it said that 4WD "may" be required and I have yet to see one of those that I would consider waiting in line or paying for... Notably, I haven't seen a single photo FROM that course anywhere.
Then why the heck does the soa only meet once/year why rotate east/west/central. Why not have events each year in the east west & central vs east coast once every 3 years. Not everyone has trailers so it just winds up just being the same people with trailers & a few scragglers.
This lack of cj8 events (1 or 2/year) has boggled my mind since we started this whole thing decades ago.

Every year: Silver Lake Sandblast Scramble (MI), Colorado Scramble (CO), until this year's mess the Oak Ridge (VA) ride with the Tidewater 4wd club.

The SOA board can't and shouldn't ever try to host anything more than they do. It's a huge undertaking to put on and they rarely get any help (speaking as a past board member). My first thought is that you should volunteer to help put on the National, then you'll see where I'm coming from.

Start an event, go nuts, invite everyone!

FYI…The Tidewater Club hasn’t run the Oak Ridge event in years, it’s been put on by the Virginia 4 Wheel Drive Association.

..edited to add- I'm also a former board member btw...

Those 'duck peps' won't even recognize it as a Jeep without an 'angry eyes' grille cover. 😆
Not true, I was awarded a blue duck on my way to the National this year. They left the duck on my truck’s door handle since the Jeep was on a trailer, and they probably could not figure out how to get one to stay on a cj door handle.

To me the duck phenomenon is not that big a deal. It does not piss me off, and when I get one in my JL I chuckle and toss it in the center console. I leave ‘em there for my wife and son to redistribute. To each their own. At the same time, I don’t understand driving around with a dash covered in ducks. That seems silly to me.

Exact same thing happened to me on the way to the National. It was even blue…came out of the hotel and it was there.

We got a blue duck in a jeep on the Silver Lake Dunes trip last month... It went into the console... Ammo for the Parkway next week...
