Legacy Scramblers

I think what Legacy does is purchase a brand spankin' new Fully loaded Dodge 3500 truck, remove the body, bed, and fenders, then adapt the frame and drivetrain to the donor body. Then they charge you the full retail cost of the new truck they stripped down plus the parts-labor to Frankenstein a new "Classic". They sell the trucks new bed, cab, and fenders that you paid for and make more on the sale.

Fully boxed frame? Chevy LS engines? Dynatrac axles with Atlas t-cases? "All aluminum" (clearly Aqualu) bodies? All of this screams to me that they're using TDK frames.

It still begs the question about how they are titled and VIN'd. Other companies (such as the Rally Fighter, and IIRC Carolina Growler with the M151 and DeLorean Motor Company with the, well, the "new" DeLorean) like this have sold them as kit-cars, where you have to come and tighten a couple bolts to say you "built" it when you take delivery, in which case you title it as a kit-car in your state of choice. It's also possible that they include the cost of purchasing a legit CJ-8 basket-case in their pricing structure so as to give it a real CJ-8 VIN and title, like what ICON does for the FJ.

Well if I had just won the lottery, an had more money than i could spend I'd order the dual sport model and opt for the all alum LS7 7.0 Liter V8 with 820 HP. It's just a $14,000 option, what the hey,,, bet that'd make the old boy feel quick. Lol

I think they are Genright aluminum. which would match the Alum body.

Few more shots of that 8

I'm sorry but if you are gonna go that color why not just go drab flat. It's not a nice color choice IMHO

The one they had at Sema....
TDK frame
Aqualu tub
3.0L Cummins diesel crate engine from Banks
Dynatrac 60 rear
Dynatrac 44 front (which they only installed because they were worried about engine clearance, Dynatrac 60 front was going to be installed after Sema)
Trailready wheels
37" Good Year MTRs
6 speed Automatic
King coilover shocks

It was already sold to someone in Texas... for... are you sitting down??? $190,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was a very nice looking Jeep, but not for that price...

Top of the line everything and has that classic look, but with everything tweaked a bit and modded a little, it seems to lack that overall package look.
Don't get me wrong, I would take it and wheel the heck out of it, but if I had $200K to spend on whatever, I probably would buy a classic Lambo or something.

Love the color. Great looking Scrambler, although the tailgate hinges look like they belong on a boat.

It's a tailgate that Aqualu makes.

No doubt it's nice. But, it's basically a catalog cruiser - 95% of it is straight out of a catalog. There's virtually zero "craftsmanship" here - just skilled assembly.

Look at the interior - a Tuffy box, an off-the-shelf shifter bolted to the floor, a dash from Omix... The seats are bolt-in - no custom upholstery work. For $180,000, the custom dash and custom center console should be wrapped and stitched to match the custom seats.

The exterior is the same - more catalog shopping. Sure, nice fenders and tailgate (maybe) but, come on - is that a Smittybilt windshield hinge and door kit? Poison Spider stinger bumper from 4WD?

Okay, under the hood is pretty badass - tons more catalog shopping but some custom work for sure to make that all fit.

Axles, suspension... more catalogs

8 guys and Black card could knock that project out in a weekend.

I've seen more genuine craftsmanship and creative/innovative design and build work on several jeeps on THIS sight.
