Welp, after two months of searching I think I found a Scrambler!!! :D

I've been looking for one with original paint and stickers -- but not a show Jeep -- one with some "character", an honest truck my 10-year old and I could work on together -- and my family could have fun with.

Anyhow, I don't want to jinks it but here are some of the details...

It's a Chestnut '82 Laredo from AZ. 258, T5, 110-120K miles... It's been sitting for 10 years in storage. It's solid, straight, no rust, the bed has plenty of "normal" scratches. It's kind of a cool story how I found it.

I should be getting more pictures soon. I'll post them as soon as we shake hands on the deal.

More soon...

Will the story about finding it cause issues with the deal? Certainly doesn't sound like you're talking about something on ebay ;)

More details! Post pics!

Damn teaser posts...... :banghead:

x2 :)

"kind of" a cool story...
After the auction for last ebay scrambler I wanted ended I called the guy just to make sure it sold. Anyhow, you wont believe what I found out -- crud! I gotta run. More when I get back to my computer...

To say we'll be waiting anxiously is an understatement...

Story Continued... Sorry, I was at the doctor's office, trying to post on my phone... sorta worked.

... Anyhow, I found out that the vehicle unfortunately did sell. And ... here's the good part though... the seller has two more Scramblers and a handful of other CJs he's preparing to sell. So, that's when I got happy again.:) He sent pictures of both Scramblers this morning -- truth told, I'd be happy with either one. One is B-UTIFUL! the other is rougher (been sitting in storage for 10 years) -- that's the one I want. It'll be a perfect project for Noah and I to wrench on and play with -- long term.

So, that's my story. Can't wait to break the good news to my son tonight when I get home from work.

glad you found one

Hey,

Glad to hear you found what you were looking for. We talked via PM's about mine and i know it would have been a good buy for you, but like all things...good things come to those who wait!

Post pics when you can!

Thanks for all of the good wishes. Been without a Scrambler for too long. I'll send pictures as soon as I get the details ironed out.

You'll know if I end up getting it. You'll see an immediate spike in my posting activity on the forum. They'll be easy to find. They usually start with: "How in the heck do you...?"... "Is it normal for an engine to...?"or "ooops! Anybody know how to fix a...?" :D

The good news (for me) is that regardless of how big of a jam I get into I'm confident that you guys will be able to talk me down with some great advice -- always do.

Nebraska?

Hey, I just found out that this Scrambler started out life in Nebraska. Any Huskers out there who can tell me of issues to look out for? You guys don't salt to you? I'll find out how long it spent in Nebraska before coming to AZ tomorrow.

Just got a new set of pictures. It has ancient undercoating on it (kind of a sawdust and oil concoction) -- thought it was dust/dirt/grime at first. Anyhow, the owner wiped away a swath for me and it appears that the paint underneath is perfect. So, it appears that Nebraska was gentle on it.

All I see are letters and words forming sentences in this thread...

WHERE ARE THE PICS?!?! :D

Congrats. Sounds like a good plan to be a "family" project! Any plans on the first things that need to be done?

Good luck on getting it back to MI, too. Your waiting till spring, right?!

:rotfl:

Alright, you wore me down. Here's the only full exterior shot I have so far...

As for waiting 'til spring -- NEVER!!!! My boy and I are itching to start wrenching on it. And, a 30 degree garage won't stop us. Heck we have three solid months of garage time before the roads are clear of salt and we can drive it.

As for first projects... Not sure, I'll have to give it a good look-over before I can say.

Yeah, I was bummed too. Unfortunately I just had to do it. I'm in a better place this time -- should be able to hang on to this one this time.

And, thanks for the dad props. Trying hard. Man do they grow up fast! I'm hoping the Scrambler will be a good place to make some memories. And, maybe talk about the important stuff of life. Been traveling a lot with work lately so I need to be really purposeful with our time together. I think the Scrambler project will help.
