Yes...and you are touching on some very close issues. On one hand, I do have memories and cherish them. I would greatly regret selling my Scrambler...regardless of how depressed I may get about not driving it. I could easily handle a long term rebuild (and that would be what it would have to be...1-2years at least).
However, my wife doesn't understand my attraction to a rusty vehicle that just sits (especially when I have my great Grandfather's Chevy pick-up that does that already). She would never dream of telling me to sell it...but I get the nudges every now and then. Part of it is that the $$$ that vanished was supposed to accomplish 2 things. 1)new body on Scrambler and 2)rebuild 360 for Grandwagoneer. Well, the 360 is now rebuilt and will be dropped in next weekend. So, we will be a 2-car family again. I am sure this will alleviate most of her complaints. And if I park the Scrambler inside our detached garage...she won't see it anymore (out of sight out of mind).
Just the story of my life... Too many projects and not enough time or money

Just sayin...
This is meant to indicate that just because the market increases 50% during a cycle, doesn't mean that a person's investments are only limited to a 50% return (or vise-versa in a declining economy). If this weren't the case, I doubt that the stock markets would be so popular, as it would restrict most of the pleasure many folks enjoy with this type of "gambling".
How much height is in that lift shown in the second picture?
