My old 1981 SCRAMBLER returns 25 years later

Looking great.

About time to put it to use. planning on being there the weekend of the 23 & 24th.

Going to Bundy Hill this Sat with The Two Trackers to do a "test and tune". I haven't had this new suspension in any super twisty washouts or rocks, and I need to check clearances and all this winters mods before windrock.

As for the 23rd and 24th, we might be up. but not sure about the Jeep, may be pulling the camper up and parking it.

Let me know if you do, could meet for lunch or dinner.

I keep you posted when we get closer [emoji106]

Did the "test run" to Bundy hill off road yesterday. It was a slow ride getting there with snow & ice. We started out as a snow run then, about noon it turned into a Muddy Mess.

Scrambler did good. I've got to look at the CB wiring. It didn't have any power...............then starting working 100 yards into the 1st trail. The other issue that came up was a clunk in the front somewhere. Either a king pin bearing is getting bad or need to be adjusted, or a link joint needs to be adjusted. Not a big deal.

And had a great time. Here's a couple pics in "Warn Valley" I stole off facebook

Grabbed another one off our club website.

This is when I stalled the 8274 trying to pull the guard off the 14 bolt pinion :fingerscrossed:

How did the top set up work? Stay warm?

The top worked great. Had a little snow dust on the floor after sitting on the trailer over night. It was 20* when we got there, and windy. Still, with the aluminum heater core and blazer fan, never turned it above low. It will cook you outta there, and the windshield stayed clear. But the rain-x anti-fog really helps that too

Made some clamp on brackets and mounted my Hi-lift

I know, it's a high quality, fabulous pic

Are you coming down I-74 to I-75? Possibly meet for lunch or dinner or breakfast? :hijack:

We are going to be heading down 75, And there is going to be a convoy of about 8 big motor homes and trucks with trails............so we won't be able to stop on the way down. :banghead:

We might be traveling alone on the way back (Friday the 6th) so we might be able to stop then.

On a different note.

I was out cruising around Saturday and stopped by the local fertilizer plant, and drove on the scale

Full of gas, tools, co2, full steel doors, me, everything ready to wheel 5960lbs

About 1000 over what I thought. I do know there is about 3500lbs sprung weight going by the spring rates and nitrogen charge. That means my diffs, tires and links are HEAVY. No wonder it feels stable.

Wow. That is heavier than I would guess. Last time I drove on a scale at the landfill, I weighed in at 1.8 tons. But I have a fiberglass body. And no doors were on it.

It's about 1000lbs more than I figured. .......even with full skid plates, full cage, 250 lbs of shocks, spare fluids, tools co2, 5/16" wall links, one tons, 40" tires, steel beadlocks, full doors, me, and a fiberglass body.

I am going to run across a different scale when I get by one :)

The same thing happened to me when I got on the scale, but it was just me and I was 10% over my estimate :(

Seriously, though with the things you listed that doesn't sound unreasonable.
