Hey, Ian- I'm curious on those tube seals- aren't you worried that they will "walk" inside the tube? Also, I know you deburred the end of the tube, but do you think they'll seal against the crusty inside? Maybe a large brake hone or flapper wheel to polish the inside surface might be necessary.

If you are concerned with them "walking" you can add a set screw through the tube...but I can't see it happening....plus the 14 bolt tube is machined right at the center section to a slightly larger ID it the seal walks it can only go like 3/4"

Seals it does not recomend "polishing" the inside of the tube. The o-rings are suple (sp?) enough to conform to slight iregularities.

Ain't that the truth. I caught my mind wandering after the show went off, but had to stop myself since I resolved to 'finish' the Scrambler as-is for now and save any further axle or suspension changes for further down the road.

Didn't know about the machined area- I'm learning things.

Those must be some dang good o-rings!:D

I just checked out Seals-It's website. They have some cool stuff, and it's not that pricey, either. Looks like that tube seal was about $72.00.

Thanks Ian...great show and good build. It is refreshing to see a TV host that cares about what his viewers think and is actually down to earth. You should definitely unveil the cj at the National Scramble!

Are you going to be using a two piece driveshaft for the front to clear the tranny pan????
Any plans to build an engine cradle? Any pics of what you are doing for tranny mount/skidplate.
Could you share some pics of your own family built buggy??

Sweet I see (or don't see) the Lexan high hood. I was thinking of using a high hood so I can't wait to see what you do with that.

Looks like it is progressing nicely.
You should have plenty of time to get it finished and get it to the National Scramble in June for a shakedown run!

Kudos Ian! After reading this entire thread (WOW), it's nice to see a "celebrity" among the average Jeeper here. I'm glad to have found this site, & happy you did too. Been a fan of your show since it's debut, haven't missed an episode! You know you'll never please all of the people all of the time, but you guys do a good job balancing the projects between "all out" & the average joe's budget & capability. :thumbsup:

Looks great, Ian! l'm liking the shorty top- I used to run a '7 soft top on my Scrambler, I am planning on doing that again... Can't wait to see this weekend's show.
 
If you like the short top I have a good CJ7 top you can have for free. Just come to Wyoming and get it.

Project will look good with the TJ grille shell, but will probably cause some controversy...

BTW, is that a YJ hood. I am wondering how you get the Cj firewall curve to translate to a TJ grille.

The YJ hood matches the CJ cowl curve, and also matches the TJ grille curve pretty well:

Yep, dual fuel my friend pretty cool setup for sure can't wait to try it out.

Yes it is a YJ hood trimmed to fit both the cowl and the body.....painted it yesterday kept part of it clear...looks pretty cool if you ask me.
