Project "AZZ DRAGGER"

[QUOTE On the BMX... The only jumps I do are sick jumps. Sweet jumps are for noobs.[/QUOTE]

Then try the "sweet jumps" on a Mean Green machine! Or a FlexiFlyer! Mooahahaha!

been busy working on the Bug lately...

Connie and I have pulled the engine out...

The nice thing about a classic Beetle engine, it fits in a laundry basket!!

Now that the engine is at the machine shop and we are waiting for parts, I get to dive head first into the Scrambler.
First thing I have to do is re-route the exhaust. It got a little smashed when Connie jumped the Jeep at the sand dunes. Driveshaft hit it.

More updates to come soon.. :D

Watch it now! ;) And don't post it in Mike's thread if you do :D

Anyone up for a thread on "Crazy things your wife/girlfriend has done in your Jeep"? (Keep it clean...)

ooooohhhhh mines dirty.

Well, cleanliness dirty at least. When driving on the trails at OneTon's I asked my Wife to look out the right side(no doors) and see if we would clear a stump. I forgot that we were in 4wd and when we spun in the mud she turned back to look at me with mud all over her face.

I had to make up for that one. :rotfl:

Well before this goes too far out of hand... Worked on the Jeep today.
Heres where I left her for the night. I need to get a 3 armed puller tomorrow so I can get the crank pulley off. Once thats off, I pull the timing cover and a couple more little things then the cam comes out. :D I cant wait till tomorrow!!!

Very nice. That engine looks like it belongs in there.

Old cam out. Nice thing about LSX engines, you dont have to pull the heads to get the cam out. Put 5/16" wooden dowels into the holes, rotate the cam quickly and the lifters stay up and out of the way!!

Cam hole... you can see the lifters. (thats not a scratch on the bearing)

Cangine valve springs. The small ones are to verify piston to valve clearance since I'll be using different ratio rockers.

This side needs a bit of trimming for the compressor and a different oil filler.

Running yet? So I assume this will be less horsepower, but in a more usable rpm range??

Side question, how does the park brake set up work? Did you make the double mount or buy it? I guess I can go back in the thread for the answer to that question.

not running yet. still have to fix the exhaust that is dented. not in a huge rush since I cant drive it right now anyways.

This cam should up the bottom end torque. should start making power around 1500 rpm instead of the old cam that was around 3500rpm.

Short day today. got the engine back together and the covers on. Had to modify the passenger cover to clear the York compressor. Now I have to find the proper oil filler tube since mine is too short. Also have to re-figure out my air intake, it wont fit anymore with the passenger cover on.

Well cam swap is done. (has been for a few days.) Actually took her for a ride around the block. Shes got balls!!! :D We had a crap load of rain so all the salt was washed off the road. No doors or side windows is cold when youre just wearing a light sweater and its below 32 F.
heres the newly finished engine compartment. New engine covers and air intake run to drivers side.

This was todays project. Wire up my rock lights. For night wheeling and/or lighting up the camp site. I've had the lights installed and switch mounted in the dash for over a year but never wired it up. The lights are CHEAP ebay string LED lights. I think I paid $10ish for a roll of 25'. Nice and bright and if they get torn off, I wont cry. Pictures taken in the garage with just the rock lights on.

Passenger side...
