Did a few things today.
Installed new rear leafs since the ones that were in it we very sagged and kinda bent. Installed the same springs that were in it before. 2.5" Rubicon Express YJ springs. RE1430. Going to have to extend the shackles. I think the stock length shackles are what killed my springs. They didnt allow enough movement so the springs bent at the spring plate a bit...

Difference in springs on the ground...

Also discovered this... Its probably from the new found torque of the LM7, but I'm going to blame Connie before BigWalton does..

Installed a new Omix-Ada leather steering wheel. :D I hated my stock plastic steering wheel. Does anyone have a "Jeep" logo horn button for this type of wheel?

Next project... front sway bar.

I have been "curious" as to how the RE springs were holding up. I love how they ride, but they are soft. A buddy of mine with a sprung over YJ with an LT1 kept bending rear BJ's Wagoneer springs. He finally had to link it. The soft leaf springs with 300+ HP seems to shorten their lives:twocents:

After driving my red Scrambler to Moab, wheeling it a week there, and driving it back, I had a case of "rear spring sag, more to the passenger rear corner". After unbolting the axle, letting the springs settle for a day, they returned "close to normal". I put 10,000 miles on my RE springs in 2012, they have all sagged consistently. But, I would not trade the ride quality for nothing:thumbsup:

Keep up the good work:wave:

I will probably link the rear when these springs go. I just dont have the time, or the space in the garage right now. I go back to work on Thursday. :(

On the plus side.. I have a spare set of springs. I will probably add a leaf or 2 from them to the new ones once they sag a bit.

Heres what I was tinkering with yesterday. I need a plasma/water jet/laser table...
Should get it done today, then off to work tomorrow!

You still have the ZO6 cam? A friend of mine is looking for one for his work truck.:shrug:Seems to think it is just what he needs.

yes I still have it. pm sent...

I built the torque arm when I still had the 258. It didnt need to be beefy. I made it out of 3/16" plate. The bolt holes started to oval so I put on some weld washers. That was a bandaid. With more than double the power, something had to give... Bent the plate and tore half the mount....

Now it needs to be "Dune Tested" !

Looks stout (read Connie proof).

2005 TJ seat project.
Initially I was going to try reupholstering my Bestop seats that were in the Jeep. They were too far gone to be saved, seat frames were toast and I'd have to tear the seat apart (literally) to get at the place that needed the repairing.
So I picked up Seats out of a 2005 TJ. (front and back) Back seat is for sale...

So, of course, no project on my Jeep is ever simple... EVER!!! Turns out that TJ seats have WAY more padding and need to be mounted 4" lower than CJ seats. No biggie, I thought. Then I had to tear down the TJ seats to move the sliders to CJ width. That was fun.

So I sent Connie to the dollar store so I could have craft time. Had to figure out how to lower the top bracket 4" while maintaining the flip forward function of the stock CJ seat mounts. (empty holes are where the stock pivot point is.)

Test fit of the cushion... Not happy because The seat is off center of the steering wheel by about 1/2". Minor, yes, but it will drive me nuts. I am going to have to move my e-brake master inward to give more room for the seat. (that will be fun :()

That is all for now. Probably wont be able to work on it for a couple weeks now... :(
