SJScrambler - Getting Started

The bulkhead looks like a tailgate, not sure I saw that in past pictures. Looking forward to more updates and seeing your metal work…
So when I decided to make a truck and not use the Scrambler setup (bulkhead), I needed to enclose the front of the bed as the CJ-10a cab was already enclosed.
I thought it would be different to use a stamped Jeep look at the front and match the rear.

I scrapped the internal cage idea... I couldn't really get the seats in there how I wanted and it was only being done for the possibilty of taking the top off and not having seat belts. I don't think that will happen too often and if it does, I will cross that bridge when I get there.

I don’t do a lot of serious off-roading. The only thing I really like about an internal cage is being able to grab onto something when I get in and out. Other than that, they seem to take up a lot of interior room.

I really would like this to work , but I don't think it's going to

The Williys hood is 14 inches narrower at the cowl. It is also a lot shorter. Amazing how much smaller the 3B high hood was.

I am going to try it tomorrow with the CJ hood and Willys grille.

I like the look of the CJ nose, but figured i would try this as it keeps playing over in my head that it works, but overall looks it might not.

I also have some CJ flat fenders from another project that I have to dig out and give it a try.

Craig how about adding two more slots to the front grill to get you wider and give it that MB feeling to it. That would be interesting. Cut an old CJ grill between the headlights and first slot on each side and add to the 3B grill. Well thats a lot of work, but if you don't I am going to at some point. :ROFLMAO:

The grille is not the problem... width wise. It's the CJ hood that actually curvess from the cowl down into the grille.

Grille Overlay comparison.

It is however a whole lot taller

How about enlarging the hood? It’s mostly flat, so to speak.

How do the fenders fit up relatively speaking?

Probably wouldn't be too hard to use the CJ hood and cut the Willys grill to fit. Lose the Jeep lettering on the cowl and maybe add Willys lettering to the hood sides and tailgate. Lots of choices. This is your design so do what you envision.

If anyone can make this hood work it’s @certifiablejeep. Seems like pie shape hood, wider towards firewall. Above Willis seam appears to line up with bed top. The bottom of Wills line might need cut to sit on top of fender. This is a newer truck Willys version and appears firewall tapers in…Excited to see what happens.

The next set of pictures showcases what the real issue is... the grille for the high hood is just really tall.
I can trim it, drop it down, etc. but I really wanted to not touch it.
This then makes the hood not slope down, but really will be flat to almost trending backwards.

NOTE: Looking at the blue truck picture vs. the CJ one, the body/cowl area just differ in height to accommodate.

The CJ is what it is, just not very tall.

I am trying to locate my CJ flat fenders to slap them on, but I might have sold them along the way... I am finding more and more stuff I have to put up for sale as well :)

Find that rear slider for me!

Could you section and "chop" the grill. I can understand not wanting to destroy this one tho......

Is the high hood setup just because you have it? Seems like going 3A would be a better start if that's what you want to do?

Get it if that's what's on hand.
