Talk about long drives...
Hat's off to Crossbones, who drove the farthest in 2006 to make it to Moab...if I remember correctly, it was 2000+ miles 1 way.
It'll take a challenge by the SoCal group to break his mark, I'm sure. Anyone in SoCal up to it?
1200 miles in a roofless Scrambler to Moab this year WAS quite "the adventure" for us, as my better half coined the phrase. (Nice of you to remember John!).
2700 miles (1-friggin-way) in a Scrambler is a little more than an adventure....I'd call it a trek.
For instance, comparatively speaking:
- Big Walt's 'continental tour' down from Alaska. [hmmmm..... Big Walt's tour from Anchorage to Durham = 4451 miles; round trip to Windrock = 5434 miles - holy crap, a thousand miles more than B/Walt!!??!!??. Impossible. Think I'd need a sponsor like B.W. had...]
- The 2005 Paris to Dakar Rally was only 5565 miles....but those 'wooses' have support crews, trucks, &
only travel 300 miles per day per stage...
It'll be a while before someone breaks the marks set by B/Walt & Crossbones, IMHO. I can only dream about such a trip...but an adventure it would be....
