Taterdogs 1982 Scrambler build

Jeeperdd, would love to hear how it went. How is the MD tub? Did you have issues with Willy Overlands "fixes"?

Would appreciate any feedback you could offer

The jeep and tub is currently at the paint shop. Not sure when it will be done.

Ok, its been far too long, lets get caught up on this build. Dustin and I delivered the Jeep to the paint shop in January 2023. Where it sat for a frustratingly long time before it was finally painted.

In December 2024, we picked up the majority of the pieces and Dustin got started on the assembly.

Replaced the gnarly wiring harness with a painless. Rebuilt and painted the heater box.

Working on the last 10%. Paint shop lost the windshield frame so we had to source another one.

Stuff like that shouldn't even happen. Had my truck at. Shop in March. Told them I wanted the old parts, 5 weeks later when I picked my truck up, parts were nowhere to be found(they told me 6 days). Yeah I was(still am) pissed at the shop.

Update: windshield frame painted and installed. new tires. 45 year old wheels stripped and polished. Needed to drill holes for the center caps. sun visors installed. horn button cleaned up and new emblem installed. Stronghold shift boots installed x2. Windshield installed and while they were there, they corrected the rear window gasket that had been installed backwards by the paint shop. Getting close.

We are close to being done and sending this back to paint shop for touch ups, clear coat and decals.
Recently fixed a transfer case leak and Dustin painstakingly tracked down what was causing the check engine light to illuminate (o2 sensor). Finally obtained Installed drivers side full door lock mechanism from a new seller after being sent the passenger side lock twice. After getting ghosted by eBay china distributor to send correct part on third try and no help from eBay to resolve.

And lastly, the emergency brake cable purchased (along with many other items) from inline tube last January. The end knob broke off. It has been used a handful of times. When I contacted them, they told me “due to the age of the order and being so far outside our 30-60 day exchange period for problems like this the shipping to us would be covered by you and the fix and shipping to you would be covered by us but that is the only solution we can offer with that cable. If you would like to place a new order and pay for a new cable we can offer free shipping for that cable.”

Basically, they have a 60 day warranty on their parts and if it doesn’t arrive broken, you better hope it breaks quickly.

It would be much easier to just allow us to send this one back while they ship us a new one, but that’s not an option.

Had the same thing happen to one of those cables. I used a HD electric wire crimp in a hydraulic press to fix it

Dustin and I dropped it off at the paint shop last Thursday morning and marked up the many spots that need to be fixed. Hoping for a Christmas miracle that it gets completed quickly. Great job on the build Dustin. Thank you.
