The hardest day of my life....

I was able to get into the Mayo Clinic next week in Phoenix with the chief urologist for a consult and 2nd opinion. Not sure how.. such short notice, but thank you for your post.

Our power is through community and sharing of knowledge!! With gods help we can do great things!

Just seeing this, want to add my best wishes for beating this. Will add you and your family to our prayer group. I know prayer works, see its power almost daily. Strength, healing and God's Peace to you and your family.

You are in our prayers. Hate to think of having to go thru what you are. Won't say be strong, just keep the faith and if you need support, that's what this group is good for.

Robert

I remember you in this forum in two ways, 1. is you matching jeep and trailer and the 2. the thread in which you took your jeep out and sighted in your daughters rifle. I remember thinking how great of a dad you must be. Have faith, put it in the Lord's hands and use this time to grow closer to your family and closer to your Father in heaven. I'll be praying for you.

From one cancer survivor to a future survivor, never quit Gueon! And to Kim Dawson...big props, that's what got me through five years ago and keeps me strong today. Great advice, ballsy to give it. Total respect for you. My world exactly...vegan, homeopathic, organic, sugar free, alcohol and tobacco free, and healthy because of it.

Prayers to you and your family from SC as well. I am not one to quote scripture on a regular basis or push my beliefs on anyone but there's a verse that I ran across that has stuck with me (and I've pasted to my office wall) that I cling to in times of need. Personally, I never knew words could be so powerful. "Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken. (ps.62:5-6).

There's no doubt you'll beat this in no time.

My Grandmother is a homeopathic guru; no soda, no artificial crap, but the biggest thing with cancer in her book is the body's PH. Cancer has to have a high acidity environment to live We are way too acidic due to our diets. Stop drinking soda and coffee. You can buy water with the proper PH or buy a machine that changes the PH out of the tap.

Start making raw and lightly cooked vegetables the majority of your diet, like 80%. It's harder than it sounds and and wow will the toilet be your friend for the first couple weeks. I'm not a believer in vegetarianism or vegan-ism, but 1. never and I mean never eat at a fast food joint, that **** is poison 2. adults should have red meat at most once a week, other than that have a piece of fish twice a week and maybe chicken once. Give your body a couple days a week without meat. This does not mean starving yourself. My grandmother is vegetarian (well eats fish occasionally) I loved living with her during college. She is a great cook! Awesome salads with ravioli on top, amazing soups! delicious fruit smoothies for breakfast! awesome Thai and Indian dishes! I would eat every meal until stuffed and still lost weight. I looked better and felt better. The truth is and we all know it, most Americans eat crap, and feel like crap. It takes commitment to change and yes extra time to to cook your food everyday but I'll tell you on thing, everyone thinks my grandmother is 15-20 years young than she really is.

Oh I'll also say this, my other grandmother lived to be 99 and half years old. She had oatmeal for breakfast almost everyday and Metamucil everyday too. Just putting that out there.

Give grandma Louann a call, she's always happy to chat, maybe she'll convince you to change your diet, maybe you'll just get some good ideas on other matters 801-381-7579

My dad had prostate cancer about 4 years ago. It has become a very common procedure from what we were told. All went well, he was mostly just sore for a month or 2 while he healed. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

My father was treated for it about 4 years ago using a method called "proton therapy", which is basically a much more focused and localized radiation treatment. Other than the fact that he had to travel to and basically live in vicinity of the treatment site for about two months (there's an industry around this aspect of it), the actual treatment is non surgical, non invasive, never made him sick, and effective. There are several centers around the country, he did his in Loma Linda.

Just FYI/something to discuss with your doc.

sorry to hear this, you must be strong, is a difficult time but it will surely be all right. I wish you well.

I landed in Phoenix today for a series of bone and pelvic scans tomorrow and my first meeting with the urologist at the Mayo on Thursday. Looking forward to it, well except for the two Barium milkshakes I have to drink at 6am tomorrow.... at least I got to choose the flavor, Mochaccino Smoothie. I wonder if they sell these at Starbucks? I would offer to share but they are making me bring the empty containers back to the clinic.

Thanks again for the prayers, positive energy, and kind words.

Geuon, good luck with the testing. Read this thread when you started it. No clever words in support, other than to say all of us, I'm sure, are watching, waiting and hoping and praying all goes well. Hope your family is with you. Keep your chin up and be well. Keep us posted.

We are all here pulling for you! We're here for support or to lend an ear or shoulder if need. Your FAMILY and one of us!

Just an update...

I had the whole bone and CT scans performed on Tuesday and met with the physician at the Mayo on Thursday. All good, i.e. no spreading and the best I have felt in almost a month. My return to Peru tomorrow was postponed for a couple more days as I have to undergo one final test prior to the surgery, scheduled 3 short days after my 47th birthday in late April. Happy B-day to me!

Patrick, if I had known I would be back in Havasu this weekend I would have helped you with the swap. Regardless, beers on me.

Anyways, feeling upbeat and ready to kick this in the a$$. Ready to get out of here next Friday and get back and hug my kids.

I leave you with a nice sentiment, attributed to Plato but paraphrased for context, regardless, this is how I choose to live my life...

Great news, Jeff! Safe travel back to Peru! We are praying for you and we know you can kick this in the hiney!!

Glad to hear things are looking good.

Safe travels to Peru. Do you get to have any fun while there? If you haven't been, I recommend a trip to Machu Picchu!

BTW - never tried the mocha flavor, but the berry flavor was surprisingly not bad.
