I would buy new stainless lines, no question at all.
Ah yes I understand and you are most likely correct. BUT if I was to go with expense of replacing these lines then I would probably entertain the thought of running stainless fuel line from Russel or such like I did on my Jag build with all the fittings. Issue is it gets expensive fast and why go that far?
 
Agreed, For me the brakes are the last thing i would not spend any money on and you don't really know what those old lines are like internally?.
Hey guys appreciate the comments. My reasoning :
Brakes : drums have shown in the past that when wet or under high load they don't perform to a comfortable level. Thus the upgrade to four wheel disks. Now this change comes with it's own issues (mounting and proper booster / master / proportioning valve) but I felt worth the safety margin.
Fuel lines : There are 3, Metal line 1 from tank to pump (in my case Howell throttle body). The fuel line to pump is a suction line then from pump discharge to throttle body is plumbed with appropriate hose.
Metal 2 return from Howell throttle body to tank (atmospheric).
Metal line 3 Vent for tank (atmospheric).
Now after soda blasting the 3 fuels integrity looks good (external). Internal flush with brake lean and blow out. Lines are ridged with no weak spots. These lines really don't handle much pressure.
On the other hand the new brake lines are all SS and they handle a lot of pressure. And to me I prefer being able to stop.
 
Cleaned fuel lines (came out pretty nice) installed / mounted with new Classic tube SS brake lines. Now SS brake lines are really nice and a mother to try and change a bend. But with some patients and choice wording it's all good. jeep 13.jpg
 
Ok check this out and looking for thoughts. This fuel tank came on the jeep when I bought it 20 years ago. There is no identification. Appears at least 3/16 steel (heavy bastard). No baffles no foam dimensions 26x16x13 approx. 23 gallon. It was not home made welds are too nice (assumption on my part). What I need is a new fuel sender / pick up / vent the reason I say such is the fuel pick up is rotted off. The partialjeep 16.jpg part numbers I can get off the old unit have not helped so far
 
That might just be the normal 20 gallon Jeep CJ tank sending unit... looks similar. Maybe the 15 gallon as well, but check the stock options for the CJ's and see if that is close. The top ring/attachment might differ, but the inside guts are what you need to match up, along with the input/output tubes.

Cb you were spot on for the sending unit thanks. Now a front brake caliper issue. Rebuilt the dana 30 with all the regular bearing seals and such. Rotors are in nice shape but wanted new calipers and pads / hardware. Purchased new from Summit (they were like for like and application correct). BUT am I missing something. They just don't feel / look right seem to have way to much movement. I have gone through my manuals (Hayes and official 2vol) not helping. Thoughts pleasejeep 20.jpg

Until you hook them up and put fluid pressure in them, they will seem loose. The pads are currently sitting away from the rotors.

Thanks. Will proceed forward, they are currently on my white board of things to keep an eye on.
 
As you know degreasing / blasting / phosphate coating / priming / painting. After all these years I still love this shit. Brings me joy watching things go from not so good to dam.jeep 21.jpg
