After all the parts sitting around for a couple of months I finally knocked out the Ford 9 inch center section to the Scrambler today.

Seats for one Jeep, drive shaft for another. Seats a little large for the bench20190813_134431.jpg20190813_134922.jpg20191117_105113.jpg20191117_105223.jpg

Front drive shaft slip joint was too much play, so new addition for the jeep.

Slowly making improvements on mine...…...Knocked something easy off the list yesterday.

The defroster should work a lot better now.

Not on a bench but changed a master cylinder in my CJ7. Had to screw with the dreaded brake switch. It fell apart into 4 pieces I think it was. Put it back together and it works. Bunch of plastic wood pellet bags as a pad on the sill, legs on a big trash can. It sucked but it worked. Resized_20191215_134313_6894.jpeg

And here's the part number off the only remaining attached piece. If I recall they're for an LJ. I had to cut to fit.

We do us a ton of baseball around here so my little CJ8 1/2 is turning 9. I always make the kids some little "Dad gift" so he's getting this tomorrow. It started out as 1/2" die. brass round stock, took a few spins on the lathe and presto - here it is. Now to only get brass balls to go with the brass bat, ha ha.

Bringing this back for 2020... I cleaned off my workbench from all the tear downs and build ups lately for some art work.

What started as blank wood and plates...

Once those were done and I was kicking around some other ideas, I remembered I picked up someting a while back... want to see if I can turn this into a reverse grille... more to come.

And when I say "clean" workbench, this is pretty clean... I still have to put away a few things and have a couple beers and sort through bolts, but this is about as clean as it has been in a year, so I am happy.

How did you pick that particular housing?
A few factors. I wanted a 9” and liked the cool factor of a fabricated housing. Quick Performance was the only company that would build it to my specs and offset, use 1/4” DOM tube, weld the perches, and still be competitively priced. Plus they offered a package price which included axle shafts and a disc brake conversion.

Perfect. That's all of what I would be looking for too....

The first pic, should look somewhat familiar. Thanks again to spankjrs for saving me an enormous amount of time and frustration with replacing an idler pulley bearing.
20200405_120055.jpg

Me and hammers don't always work out well, so tried something different for extraction and insertion of the bearing.
20200405_114301.jpg

After the pic, I got everything aligned and it came right out. For installation, had to give it a little tap to get it started, then was able to crank it in 90% of the way and then the hammer to finish it off.

And now it spins smooth and silent.

Work bench isn't large enough so I set up portable work benches. Went through tops that I had in storage. It's amazing the parts you accumulate but don't remember exactly what you have. Found a original jeep soft half top. May be searching for the hardware for it.

Also found 2 new half tops I bought years ago and never got around to getting the missing pieces. This top is a replacement new top (probably for someone with a worn out top.

The third top is a STC fast trac top. Looks complete (minus the tail gate bracket). Also new. I knew I had some tops (though missing some parts), forgot the condition they were in8-). Thinking the fast trac for the never ending jeep build (will almost never see rain) and the stc black top the the winter fiberglass build.

I could so use that black STC half top if you're thinking of letting it go. :fingerscrossed:
