I have been on the forum for a few years now, have met many wonderful Scrambler folk, online and face to face. Over the years I have noticed that we all come from a broad spectrum of career fields. For example, recent posts told me that BUGMAN is, well a bug man, he grows bacteria, and JOE WEST just finished his PhD exams. So that got me to wondering, how many different careers fields are there amongst fellow Scrambler Owners. I will go first;

Post it up!

Since finishing school, I've spent the last 24 years working for a fleet leasing/management company. I've had several positions including Payables Coordinator, Warranty Coordinator and Customer Service Rep. Currently I am the Quality Assurance Analyst, which means I spend all day writing performance evaluations. Not the career path I had planned, but the company is rock solid - grown from 35,000 vehicles to 700,000 - and I've carved out a small niche for myself.

Career student, but like Joe West, that's about to end for me. I'm a research veterinarian just on the edge of finishing my PhD.

Is it worth it, you might ask? Maybe not, I should've quit a number of years ago. But then I wouldn't have ended up in in Colorado, so I really can't complain!

Office furniture.

Yeah...thats right...office furnture.

Architect.
I deal with office furniture people daily. Just came from a meeting, as a matter of fact. I am Dilbert's cube farm architect.

Retired mechanic, plus several years as plumber.

I recently left my job as a machinist to go to work for the utility company as a engineering technician, I am working in the transmission (substations) group. So far they have thought me that I still have a lot to learn.
When I was laid off last year, I went back to school full time. That's how I met the recruiters from the energy company. Then months after being called back to work, I was offer a job with the energy co. Man it felt good to turn in my notice. I still have 3 more semesters of school left.

FAA Flight Inspector. Fly around the midwest checking on airport instrument approaches, navigational aids, lights, obstacles on final approach

Would rather be a Male Escort like Craig!!! :smokin: Come to think of it, you look familiar..

Well I went to a tech school to become a carpenter. I graduated in 88 worked 2 years as an apprentice for a cabinet maker.. Bought my first cj7 when I was 21....3 years later I finally got it road worthy. Then several years later I helped a guy out on the side of the road, with a broke down jeep. Long story short he was a service writer at a jeep dealership. I've been a jeep mechanic for 12 years now. Jeeps turning ordinary people into mechanics everday.

I went to college thinking I was going to be a police officer (runs in the family). I received a degree in criminal justice and continued working in restaurants for 12 years. Went back to school get my MBA and somehow ended up working as a finance analyst for a Fortune 500 company for the past 5 years. I stick out like a sore thumb in an office environment, but somehow it works.

I name things.

Really. I run a branding firm. We work with (mostly) Fortune 1000 firms assisting with brand strategy and naming their products/services. I know - who know this was even an option.

Graduated college in '91 in Industrial Technology. Got a job 2 months later as a Service Manager of a Saturn dealership. Changed dealerships a couple of times over the next 9-10 yrs. Got tired of the people chewing me out and not being thankful for the extra stuff I tried to do for them so I left that for the wonderful "Oil Field". Was safety, inventory, and asset manager up untill last June when I got laid off.:banghead: Out of work for 2 1/2 months then I guess father-in-law got scared and gave me a job, still in the oil field, until something better comes along. That was the middle of last August, still looking. Now with this little oil leak and that man who is known as the president stopped drilling, looks like I may be stuck at father-in-laws for a while or change careers again. The bad part is, this is the second nationals since I got my 8 that I have to miss because of it all.

I've been working as a Realtor for the last 6+ years. Before that, I worked in a family retail clothing business for 25+ years.

I am a steelworker. I have been in the industry for 15 years now. Mostly automotive grade galvanized steel for the big 3, honda and toyota. If you have a rusty TJ, that may be my fault. Rusty CJ's, thankfully I had nothing to do with those.:D

CEOHHHHHH wait a minute! I'm recently retired (2 Weeks) after 40 years with Indiana & Michigan Power, Tanners Creek Plant, a "Unit" of American Electric Power (AEP). Held several positions from floor sweeper in 1970 through Fire Chief & Safety Director in mid '90s Went back to shoveling coal in 1995 when "Restructuring" was the big thing. Ended up with 5 people doing my old job. Went on to get my Pilots license of an Uninspected Towing Vessel (500 gross tons ) with a public passengers endorsement. Spent the past 16 years running Tug Boats, Dozers, Cranes, and loaders in the material handling department.

I have been licensed at one time or another for Hazmat instructor, Hazmat site commander, Fireman, EMT, Indiana Mental Health Director, OSHA inspector, and Red Cross Training Instructor.

But most importantly..... Playing with & building Jeeps for 44 years!

Oh, so you work for a non-profit. How inspirational!:D
I wish I could just do this full time...

I graduated college with a degree in Engineering, went to work for the Navy as a civilian engineer for 5 years and got my MS in Ocean Engineering, then moved to NC so my much-smarter-than-me wife could get her PhD at Duke. Had a job lined up and put in notice with the Navy, moved down and they told me the job was no more the day before I was to start. Found a "temporary" job as an "engineering writer" at a small marketing firm and worked my way up there for 5 years until Kate was done and we moved to MI. I was working from here for the firm in NC, but got laid off last Feb, luckily found a spot with a marketing firm out of Cincinnati that I could work from home for and have been there ever since.

Not what I'd pictured myself doing now when I came out of school. Guess that's what happens when you marry up. Once Kate's a professor somewheres, I'd like to learn welding and work as a mechanic/fabricator, or possibly as a kept man.
