Windrock- what's the plan?

CAMPGROUND INFO Ok here you guys go,i trust you have already printed out the directions in the previous thread to Windrock-When you turn on to Windrock Road-KEEP YOUR SPEED LOW,THIS A RESIDENTIAL AREA AND VERY CURVEY,proceed out Windrock Road untill you come to the Big yellow sign that says Windrock-CCMC,stop and look up towards your right up the road and you will see a Church with a Split Rail Fence-Ok your in the right place,there is a road that turns to the right where your at and the yellow sign is,go appox 2 miles to the right on that road,the campground will be on your left,look for the new Tin Horn and gravel-I was told they should have some signs out also,*FOR YOU GUYS TOWING IN* I was told there should be signs for you guys where to turn and come into the camp ground,the roads are very narrow and they want all the towing traffic to come in from the same directions so they won't be trying to meet each other on the road-Even tho the camping is primitive it is a really nice area with a creek,huge trees,very shaded and very well groomed,There will be people there all day thrusday and I was also given the ok by Jason for whoever gets there first can stake out an area for all you guys that are camping-Just figure out how many are staying in the camp ground,I will be staying in a motel in Oak Ridge in case my Girl friend comes up.As it stands right now all Scrambler Rides will be leaving from the camp ground or the parking area at 10:30am-so you guys will have plenty of time to sleep in and grab your stuff that you will need for the day,make sure and bring your lunch or munchies everyday with you on the ride-I requested that we leave after the other groups so we would be last in on the trails so we won't hold any groups up and this will give us time to stop when we want or need to and also take lots of pictures-We will also have a drivers meeting every morning before we depart to make sure we are all playing together;) See you guys there and be very Careful coming in on your trips,RJ if you need another way to get there PM me and i can give you an alternate route-JC:D

Me, My old Man, and Will Sease, will be getting there around 4-6pm at the latest on Thursday........

Should we try to pick a spot, or will somebody already have one?

Crossbones and I are motelling in Oak Ridge, but we'll come looking for you guys after we get unloaded. We expect to get there around 6:30 on Thursday.

John i thinki'm staying at the same motel that ya'll are,I'll be up Friday morning to unload at the motel and then head on over to the camp ground to hook up with everyone else-JC:D

It turns out the flexplate to torque converter bolts were all loose. Just one or two turns, but that's all it took to make the most awful noise I've ever heard from a vehicle.

Long story on how they got fixed, the short version is a guy local to where I got the Jeep towed read my emails to the Jeep group and thought my description matched loose flexplate bolts. He volunteered to go out to where it was and check. He found them loose, tightened them up and jumped the Jeep... noise gone! I went out and got it tonight. Drove home at highway speed with no problems.

I'll be Loctiting the crap out of those bolts tomorrow night and I'm coming to Windrock.

I need to know where to meet up with the Raleigh crew on the way out on Thurs. morning.

I'm hoping to get there late thursday night and I will be camping. There is a slight chance I might get stuck here for work on friday but I am doing everything I can to get out of here on thursday after work. So, whomever gets there first and camps, save me a spot. I'm driving not trailering..

The question is.. what will I be driving...

Its now 3:00am and I'm just coming in from the garage.. the scrambler is running. But, I still do not know for certain if I have fixed the fuel problem or not. Dropped the gas tank twice, New sending unit, unhooked all connections, blew out the fuel lines, completely washed the tank out etc. It runs now, but still don't know if it fixed the problem of it under throttle at 40-50 mph. And I've now spent the whole weekend and last 2 nights on the fuel problem and haven't gotten all the other maintenance that I should have been working on it. Well see what tomorrow night holds.. This has just frustrated the crapt out of me.. as intermittent as it has been.

The backup plan is just to drive the TJ. I know I know.. pretty pathetic.. I was hoping to get 2 full days of driving the scrambler in before I drove the 4 hour trip with it.

So.. who we have camping..

I'll be there on Fri sometime, I plan on camping also. Hope to get there before it gets too dark, but since that never seems to happen, Guess I have to expect to set up in the dark.

See you all there, what are the plans for Sat, and how do I get through registration?
 
I should be at the camp gound are 2pm thurs. If i am there first i will try and grab as much space as i can . I am towing my 8 with an motor home. I sould be easy to find just look for the rv with jersey plates and a brown cj-8 on trailer.

PLANS

Friday will be a scenic easy ride of about 50 miles,with some over looks and a couple of easy challenges,Saturady we will step it up some and ride a difficult rated trail,but it should be a moderate trail,nothing to hard other than the creek crossing that we will make sure everyone gets through,should be fun,when we get out and if we have time we will have more to run and play on,Sunday we will meet and see who is left and what you want to ride-JC

Considering that the NC crew will be rolling in with 4 Scramblers and two tow setups, we ought to be able to stake out quite an area. :D

I'm jealous.........

Generally JC and I talk about 2-3 times a week on the phone. Well with your up coming event we have talked several times in the past 2 weeks and I really envy you guys and wish I could be there. Not only because JC has worked so hard on organizing for you all but I'd really like meet you all very much.

JC and I are already thinking a head to next year and I think I may make that my vacation if I can.

Guys I know you will but really thank JC for this, he has worked hard to make sure you all are squared away. Every one ride safe and have a blast..............oh yeah and at least think about me out there on the trail........lol.
