Issue: My 4.2 is currently not running. I was driving down the road and heard a "Poof" sound. I know, I know, great description. I pulled over and the motor was running hot and a little bit of oil smoke was coming out of the oil breather filter on the top. The motor turns over and I will give you the actions that I took below.

You're making these as profile posts, not forum postings. Go under one of the subforums and post there.
Currently working on my 1982 Scrambler that "died" toward the end of the summer and an XJ that has some rust issues. I'm not going to give up on it even though it gave up on me. Also, looking for events to meet up with some CJs. I am currently living in NC but home is MI.

I am in Supply, NC, by Holden Beach, with an 82 Scrambler. I was also looking for CJ events around here. LMK if you find any. BTW - I have seen 2 other Scramblers around Wilmington.
Hello Mike, I hope all is well... I sent the Adams' with a Memorial flag that I had done for Ken and the family. I thought you would would like to have one, I know you cared as much about Ken as anyone else so I wanted you and Mike to both have one. If you don't have it already I'm sure they should send it to you soon.
Hello, Kim. I've got a friend in Dallas that recently restored an 85 CJ-7 and would like to purchase an aluminum front frame cover. He's not on any of the Jeep forums but if you have an email address, I will pass it on. Thanks
Hey Jason. I would like to get one of your rear cross members. How much are they and what would shipping cost to 70520?

I know I am probably late , but is it still available?
Jeep was brought back to daily driver status as of December. Still going strong; a little brake squeaking and some issues with the emergency brake engaging at the last click - hopefully I’ll have time to check that out soon.

My 81 has CC 3.31 Trac-Lok, and I have 2.5” lift with Rocky Road YJ spring conversion. I’m running 33x12.5 15R, and I have the I6 258 4.2. When going uphill she boggs down, and loses speed. I end up letting folks pass on mountain roads. What gears will allow me to get better MPG and have 4th pull me up the hill?

You made a "profile post" that's really not going to get seen here. You need to go into the drivetrain subforum and make an actual forum post there.

There are online gear ratio calculators that you can use if you search online, you plug in transmission ratio and tire size and get different RPMs at highway speed with different gear sets.

What transmission do you have?
FlagJeep, would you be able to pass my name and number to Kurt? If his dad bought it new, that would not be the truck we are looking for, but that would account for the 2nd out of the the rumored 3 1981s painted the same we heard live in the Flagstaff area.

I will try to track him down, he is retired. I only know of the one that is a former marine I think, and the one Curt has in Flagstaff. There is a CJ7 my buddy owns with a similar paint scheme but, its a 7, so that is not what you are looking for.

Thank you, Sir!
Hello everyone, new member here trying to get some history on my recently purchased cj8. It originally had a 4 cylinder and I believe it is a renegade model due to the steering wheel. The thing I am curious about is the rear seats. How rare is this to have? Thanks!

Make an actual post, not a "profile post" these rarely get seen. All rear seats are added after the fact, they came equipped with the holes in the floor for them but never were sold with them.
Not a word outta anybody yet. So I am calling straight to corporate to find out if anybody there has a pulse. Hang in there.
Chamba, where did you get that extended soft top?

I had it made at a marine top fabricator in Vero Beach. Not cheap but really nice quality. They made another one for a good friend of mine in Colorado for $500 but he had to give them his old bestop bikini because they need the plastic lip that goes in the channel at the top of the windshield.

Interested in where you had it done in Vero beach. I’m close by so looking to do a tan full soft top.

I plan to buy a 1982 cj8, 360 v8 4 barrel carburetor. How much power and speed should I expect, from this engine?
Thanks, for responding

I once drove a CJ-5 with a 304 and T-150 as a daily driver, along with regular use of my father’s 360 powered Grand Wagoneer. I would really need to know more about your expectations, but there will plenty of low end torque, but don’t expect more than 80 mph on the freeway.
Need a step bumper for my Scrambler restoration. I see you posted a pic of a white step bumper to help a guy in 2019. Can you help me find one? Mine is about rusted in two at the hitch..... Thanks, Rob Love 865-415-1566
