I posted some pictures so can I get some of that sage advice you wish you knew when you bought?

Even if it’s “search xyz”

40K. Very nice. Is that an original radio?

Interesting that you have a Renegade wheel, but no dash overlay or rocker trim

Original radio as far as I know.

Your comment about the wheel is a little alarming! Hope this thing isn’t a Franken Jeep.

I would not despair. There are several of us that believe many base 1985 Scramblers received the Renegade wheel for some reason.

I have watched this Jeep for sale for a long time. It looked great and the mileage looked authentic based on the shape of the interior. Glad you could finally buy it.

I wouldn't call it a Franken Jeep, but there are a few questions. The paint all looks OEM; you can even see where the "Scrambler" emblem on the right rear fender used to be. I see the snaps and footman loops indicating that at one point it had a full Whitco soft top. But as noted, it doesn't have the rocker-guards (or even the holes for them) or the dash overlay indicating the SR package. But it has the Renegade steering wheel, and the seats that ALWAYS came with the Renegade (but also came in base-models with great frequency). The center console is aftermarket. Your carpet is OEM. I see some co-ax hanging down by the radio, but that goes with the antenna mount on the left rear fender, so a PO clearly had a CB or VHF, etc., installed. This is consistent with the cigarette lighter being in the wrong spot (they were under the speedo) and no ash tray; I bet the PO didn't smoke, so he pulled the ashtray, and slid the lighter over (to keep as a power port or similar) to make room for the CB. I don't know that I'm convinced it's the OEM radio either. The wheels are Renegade wheels, but I don't see the black stripe, and they are a VERY bright white, so I think they've been repainted. It's also not uncommon for the dealers to swap wheels around after taking delivery. (My base-model 7 was sold by the dealer, very well optioned, with aftermarket wheels and custom pin-striping.) You have the OEM tach, and presumably the OEM clock.

All things considered, I think you have a base model, that either the PO or the dealer added the SR steering wheel and a set of SR wheels (that have now been repainted). This this is still a GORGEOUS Jeep.

Considering I live in the rust belt, I'm ashamed to admit my favorite picture is of the floor board under the carpet!!!!

Very nice looking Jeep

It's not one of the pictures I send friends and family but I knew present company would appreciate it.

That reason was "hey Bob, can you grab me one of those last few steering wheels over there?" at the factory.

That's a great looking Scrambler and I am sure you are going to be very happy with it. I also appreciated the floor picture and if you live in Mass. you would know why. Good luck and enjoy.

That is a very nice scrambler.

I agree with DeLuke’s comment. Have an 85 that is factory optioned exactly as yours except for the exterior do-do brown factory color - dark brown metallic. Must have been an 85 scrambler thing.
