We are pretty lucky, we have a local grown supper market here that sells singles so you can sample without having to buy a whole 6 pack of something you might not like, with a pretty large selection also.

I'm not an expert taster, by any means... but I enjoy micro-brews, and I'll give you my best impressions!

Last night, I started with "Ghost in the Machine." It's a double IPA with strong Hops flavor, yet still smooth, and easy to drink.

This would make a good "intro" to IPAs, for those who might be sensitive to the bitterness normally associated with this kind of beer.

I'm glad Andy sent two of these... I'm certainly looking forward to drinking the other one at the end of this review!

Tonight, I had the "Cocodrie." It's a double-dry-hopped IPA.

I'm not sure exactly what that means... but wow, this is an IPA lover's (of which I am one) IPA!!

I wish I could tell you about "hints of citrus," and all that jazz, but my palate just isn't that refined.

I enjoy bold flavors, and this brew delivers!

Tonight I'm drinking "Andygator!"

It's a helles doppelbock (hell's double-bock), and my first thought was that the flavor reminded me a lot of the Deschutes Black Butte Porter, though maybe not quite as rich. Makes sense, right? A double bock should be a pretty dark beer... but, what the heck is a helles doppelbock?

I looked it up (wikipedia covers it pretty well), and it turns out that "helles" refers to "light in color," even though a double-bock should be extra dark... That's like calling a beer "pale-porter!"

So, I poured some into a clear glass, and sure enough... it's a light colored beer with a dark beer taste!

I love it, and with 8% alcohol, it's already improving my evening!

I'm never to good at describing what something tastes like, thanks for the feedback. I'm only good at knowing whether I like it or not and it was good.

Haven’t had a Founder’s that I didn’t like. Yet. And this one is good as well.

If you like the Mosaic hop try Mosaic-Hero from Revolution Brewing sometime. Imo, very good.

I do love my Founders. If you haven't tried the Azacca ipa you're missing out. It's a winter seasonal. Very delicious. ? And of course the Centennial ipa. Yum!

I brought in a guest-reviewer (my wife) for "Purple Haze!"

She doesn't share my affinity for deep, hop-rich flavors... so when something like a raspberry lager rolls through our fridge... she claims it!

She said it was flavorful, easy to drink, and didn't have a prolonged aftertaste. She also said it was very bubbly (like champagne-bubbly) which she really enjoyed!

I did get a sip of it as well, and I found it to be a nicely refined raspberry lager!

When the strawberries come around in the next couple of months, my nieces husband said the brewery turns the Andy Gator into Strawgator. Going to try that this year

My final sample of this set is "Envie!"

This American Pale Ale (it says so on the label) tastes like an IPA!

It's got super-hoppy flavor, but without the knock-out alcohol content of most IPAs.

This would be a great one to sip when you enjoy ice-cold hops flavor, but need to remain coherent for a while.

In all, I really enjoyed each of the beers that Belizeit sent me!

I drank them each on a different evening, and each was my first drink of the evening (so as not to co-mingle flavors, and such).

With every taste-test though, there has to be a favorite...

...and my clear favorite was...

IPAs - 1.jpg

Ghost in the Machine! :headbang:

This will very likely enter my regular rotation, which includes Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Mirror Pond Pale Ale, Down-Town Brown, and Fat Tire Amber Ale... good company!

Thank you again Andy, I've really enjoyed this!

Anyone else try the SN Resilience yet? Nice dry hop flavor. Not my fav, but pretty delicious. Hopefully they raise a ton of $ for the people devastated by the fire.IMG_20190206_182349144.jpg
