After my CJ8 false start I still couldn't scratch that itch. Called my buddy who always has "an extra" project. He rebuilds Jeeps from the SW so this one was on the back burner. Needs the usual (floors, sides, etc.). Best part: deal includes a donor I sold him with a good running 304/T-176 and all parts to swap in.

Born Sebring/Garnet. Will be Sebring/Black with soft top and soft doors. Sold off the top, front seats, engine and trans. Needs a fender and smalls.

Tear down has begun. 20190406_172533.jpg20190406_172616.jpg20190510_090345.jpg20190510_090353.jpg20190510_090408.jpg20190510_090441.jpg20190510_090251.jpg20190512_115613.jpg20190512_115626.jpg20190512_115647.jpg

Making progress. Rough cuts awaiting metal.

Question: theres appears to be seam sealer between the floor and sides. I always thought it was welded then sealed top and bottom.????

Metal started rolling in. My assistant was not much help. Keyparts floor pans, Classic Enterprises lower sides and cowl supports, Crown fenders, etc. The fenders suck but there was more damage to the OE than I thought and decision was made. Sent back the first ones due to the stamping and one was a YJ.

Haven't made much progress in last couple of weeks. Sara tore her other ACL and been playing nurse. Surgery is today. Going to work around the house instead.

Only thing I think you are missing is a good winch. :)

Found one.

Speedy recovery to the patient, you're under considerable pressure to perform and not lose the patient!

Patient is fine. Spent a few weeks of playing nurse and out of the shop. Left me time to find some parts and see where this can go. We had another setback on last Thursday when we were rear ended on the highway merging into a construction zone. We were the second car hit.

Good news: we are all good. Sore with some PT scheduled. The other two were not wearing seatbelts and went off in the bus.

Bad: Momma needs a new car. This 09 Honda was paid off, so $$$ is being diverted.

The scope/schedule is being adjusted. I have already bought the lower panels and drivetrain from a donor, that is covered. I am going to have to be resourceful in getting the parts I need to finish the way I want. I recently bought a donor for $650 that had enough parts to come close to break even with keeping a set of D30/AMC 20 axles with 4.10s, Warn Full Float, Detroit in the rear/open front and an aluminum radiator for my CJ8. I am going to have to have the gear install inspected (seems a bit loose).

I am going to jump back on the body this Friday. Possibly have another donor coming shortly. I should probably start documenting the part scores that keep this build going as part of the overall process.

Still finishing the metal work, but the motor/trans donor showed up this morning. I owned this one a while ago. All the swap stuff I need and he wants the carcass back. Deal.

Hopefully it didn't travel far- I seldom see bungees used to secure a hardtop!

Nice metal work, have been using your thread as motivation as I do some of the exact same projects on mine.

Best,
Hoov

Long day. Beer time. Shift rails on the D300 are stuck, but I have an extra. The gears in the T-176 look really good.

Last of the "treasures" came home. Virgin dash, stainless trim, 21 gallon, odd s and ends. Guy made sure I knew "those are factory nerf bars"...

Nice door panels.

Descent, not retail. This thing is sooo rough. Its dropping chunks of rust everywhere, smells funny and had 10+ wasp nests. Paid $500. Already pulled everything. Send it!!!
