Did you make that rear bumper? It reminds me of something I saw a long time ago made from a few front bumpers sectioned together.

I got my castings for the frame covers. Had two of them welded up today. Did a little prep and they are going out to the first two on the list. This second generation frame cover came out really nice. Very little prep needed for paint. The old pattern was plastic/wood/body filler and the heat caused it to lose some shape. This new pattern is made from aluminum, is nice and flat, and won't lose its shape. I made the "L"s a little lower, as suggested. I had the back side of the ends welded at the ends for extra strength. I used the grinder on the welds so there is very little to fill for a smooth appearance. Picture shows the first prototype on my Scrambler. Been dialing them in ever since.

Any of you guys that know me know that I do a few small building renovations and especially enjoy doing bathrooms. Tile for some reason is what I really enjoy doing. So Mrs. CJ8 was due a bathroom reno and who was I to say no. I'm putting marble in the shower and it's already on the floor. The reason for this post is to show how I created a hole in the delicate marble (it has a very large granular make up) for the hand shower bib to penetrate.

I tried my carbide hole saw I got for concrete and it did nothing but explode the 3"x6" tile so I remembered back to what my grandpa had said he had done to "cut out" a ceramic tile many, many years ago..........he sandblasted it. So I went about locating the hole in the tile.

Then I used a few layers of heavy duct tape to protect the surface of the polished marble from the blast media.

Cut out where I wanted the hole.

Then it was off to the blast cabinet. All I had in there was Black Coal Slag......Seemed to do the trick in just a couple of minutes.

IMG_4142.jpeg

Cleaned it up with a carbide burr motor. The dust was super fine powder.

And presto - we have a hand shower bib

And the somewhat finished product

Got three more welded up today. One is spoken for. Two available if anyone is interested, or they go to Ebay. That old BBQ stand is a good work bench for grinding the welds down, and painting and other things. I've got another with a tray on the bottom, and a wood top with a shelf underneath. Never let a good BBQ stand go to waste.

Frame covers all spoken for. Anyone who wants one, let me know, and I'll let you know when I cast more.
