Spankrjs 1986 "Ploy-Boy" CJ-7

Not too much of an update, but washed this one:

I bought a limb chipper for my DR Brush mower awhile back, and shredded/chipped about 8 trailers worth of tree limbs up. Of course, that was upwind of where I park this one, so it was covered in saw dust. Need to park it somewhere else next time!!!!

Adjusted the chain on the plow lift so that the plow will now rest on the ground with the ram completely compressed. It has been resting on concrete blocks, this is better/easier.

Going to piddle with some more easy bolt on stuff and a few simple repair jobs over the next couple of weeks. I need to start on underbody sanding/priming/painting, but no way I'm doing that in the garage. So, need to start shuffling some stuff around. Way too damp for bare metal or painting right now

That's it for now

Why do the wipers park like they would for a RHD? Is there a way to switch that back and forth?

I imagine you could just pull the arms off while at the park position and reverse them so that they would rest on the passenger side:shrug:

But then they'd sweep the other way when you turn them on and they'd go off the glass.

I always thought there was a different motor for RHD and LHD to get them to park on opposite sides. Seeing them on your original, low mile LHD indicated that's probably not so.

if you pull the motor off of the windshield and move the short link 180° you should be fine. That was how I switched mine from being toward the driver at rest to being toward the passenger at rest. And the link I am talking about is the one that attaches to the motor shank directly. Not the link attached to the wiper pivot.

This.

I noticed this sticker the first time I saw the Jeep in person, assumed it was a catalytic convertor sticker or something like that, never paid attention to it.

This morning @Jeepaddict was nosing around and actually read it, pretty nest. It is on the driver side rocker, above the other OEM decal:

This is a late model 1986 with the Dana 44 rear axle. Looks like it was at the dealer lot/purchased late 1985.

I have thought about selling the plow separate from the Jeep, but this kind of ties it to this Jeep's history. Anyway, just a cool bit of history. Being from the south, this decal would not be common down here LOL!!!

With Tommy's red 4 cylinder CJ7 gone, tucked this one back in for the winter:

That's it for now

If your temperatures will be similar to Texas next week, you might get the opportunity.

Did a little bit of work to this one this weekend - drilling out broken bolts, tapping holes, and bolting stuff together.

One of the fold and tumble rear seat brackets on the wheel well had a broken bolt:

One of the brackets on the floor for the rear seat also had a busted off bolt, no picture, but the same thing as above - drill and tap!!

$50.00 of stainless bolts and hardware does not go far!!!!!!!!!!!

Got the rear seat/seat belts bolted in. I also finally fully bolted the hard top down to the body.

And finished drilling out the last broken bolt on the passenger side step.

I love Torx bolts!!!!!!! That little star indentation makes a perfect centering point to drill through the dirty bastards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seems kind of backwards to be putting the whole thing back together to probably just take it to pieces again, BUT, at least now I have hardware for everything AND every threaded hole has been tapped/anti-siezed. This will make for faster disassembly/reassembly in the future. I have been using stainless bolts, not trying to go back 100% OEM at this time. It is easy to see the stainless hardware on a black Jeep, sticks out like a sore thumb!! I ordered a Totally Stainless kit for this thing a few months back, still on back order for another few months!!!!!

With everything bolted together properly for the first time since I got this Jeep, I took it for a quick spin around the block. It is very quiet/tight, which i guess is right for only 6,400 miles!!

The passenger door has not been latching correctly for the past few months, finally started to investigate. Very carefully removed the inner door panel, and found this which I thought was pretty cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the "RH" on the plastic rain shield. Going to fix this door, then come up with a game plan on how to proceed with this jewel.

That's it for now

Is there much of a difference driving around with a plow vs no plow ?
I would think so. The plow and associated brackets/hydraulics probably weigh close to 200 pounds hanging at least a foot off the front bumper. It rides good now, but a little soft up front

Passenger door lock/latch mechanisms just needed some lubrication and a little manual manipulation, works great again. Simple fixes..

All back together and working great.

While I had the door apart I took a quick peek inside. Knowing this Jeep's past I was pleasantly surprised to see next to zero rust inside the door shell. Not the easiest thing to take s picture of, but the inside bottom of the door shell:
