$25 7" H4 Headlight Upgrade Kit

The big issue with LED is how they produce light. Each individual LED produces a narrow cone of light that shines in a single direction. It requires a bunch of individual LED chips placed in a circular pattern to mimic a halogen light. If a reflector is designed for a halogen lamp, no LED bulb will be ideal. Some might be good, but you will have cold spots in the pattern.

If you want an LED, best to find a complete replacement unit that has reflectors designed for the LED light pattern.

I have a set of Hella H4 housings and the above LED bulbs in my Mini and they are awesome.
They are not cheap, but they are the best LED bulbs I have seen/used. Most LEDs don't have the LEDs in the correct place on the bulb housing, which causes the lights have crappy blinding patterns.

I picked up 2 Toyota kits. Will likely get another set of these LEDs for when I put the Toyotas into my truck.

Thanks for all the effort.
Definitely a huge upgrade from the stock SB's.

I wonder how much difference the relays make for the stock SB's (no not asking you to test), maybe I'll try to remember to compare when I get around to doing mine. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade.
My relays made a huge difference specifically at idle. At high revs not much difference in output, but definitely safe to not go through the switch.

I saw John had received his kits. Got me wanting to order a set even though I currently do not have a CJ that needs them. But maybe I will soon. Should have the light kit on hand in case.

I just opened one of the kits I bought, crazy that you get 2 glass headlights, wiring with relays for under $17. Easy way to convert from sealed beams to the H4 style bulb.

My headlights came today. Probably didn't cost much more than bulbs at the parts store. Very generous with the tie wraps, too. A few years ago I paid more for a relay and wiring kit to do this without bulbs. Members on here have passed on a lot of great deals available. Thanks to all of you.

Picked up 2 sets. Also got some hella 80/100w bulbs. Really excited to try these out. Wasn't ready to drop $200+ on retrobrights.
If I knew the correct pn for the soft led I would have ordered them already (Holley RB) they are high on my list.
Now I'm deferring that getting these & putting the holley funds towards a winch =D
My weekend, under the tarp & snow, is to swap out all of the dash lights to led. I bought a kit vs piecing them together.

I need this with 5” headlights. I may get it for $20 and just replace the headlights. At this price, why not?

pick my set up tomorrow at a dealer about 20 mins from me. $19.63
