2010 National Scramble: June 24-26th, Sparta TN

Man this is fun sitting back and watching everyone ELSE make these last minute "tweaks" to make it to the Nat's.

Come on Eric, surely you can find something to do to yours!!
It's part of the fun.

Don

Got done with my aluminum radiator install around 2AM Friday night and left to go to a show to meet Kevin (revho) on the other side of the state at 8 AM Sat morning. Everything seems good (knock on wood) and made it to the show and back with no problems, 240 miles round trip, doing 80 on the highway

One thing I need to try to do is seal up the twin stick shifter boot and the stock boot I cut. Currently the twin boot is just sticking up through a hole in the stock boot and they're not attached/sealed together. This MUST change. It lets HOT air pour into the cab... We were boiling with the sides/back in the soft top even with the windows unzipped and the fan on high. The idea of 5 hours in those conditions doesn't thrill me at all (breaking up trip to TN into 5 hours halves by going into our main office in Cinci in the middle on both trips).

Thanks for the reminder about sealing the boots together. I gotta do that.
What day are you doing the second leg from Cincy? I am following Toby down Wednesday morning (assuming he builds an 8 between now and then). Sam isn't leaving until Thursday. You are welcome to join us, but I don't think we will be doing 80!

Wed morning is a bit too early for me. I actually just emailed Toby about that last night.

I have to work (on Montgomery Rd right off 71) until 5 on Wed, then I was going to head down. I'd love to make the trip with someone either if y'all can wait til then or if I can catch up with Sam...

Sam and Melanie both have to work Wednesday evening, but that means they will miss most of Thursday down there. You probably don't want to wait until Thursday morning to leave. I hate driving in the dark when I don't know where I am going, so Wednesday night doesn't appeal to me. But, it's only 6 hours from here. I need to talk to Toby. We'll figure something out.

We maybe going through Cincy about that time or a little earlier depending if I can get off work early. How firm is your 5 getting off work? You can call me @ (614)837-4400 and we can discuss it.

And I plan on making it. I work every day this week and won't be able to get back to it until this weekend, so we will see what it looks like.

WOW that looks like an incredible amount of work to get done in a very short time. I hope you have a lot of friends to help and do not mind working long hours.

All I have left to do to get ready, aside from SOA officer duties, is to finish restore of my old WARN 8274 and fab the mount for it. If I have time, maybe fabbing a mount for the CO2 tank as well.

Oh I just can't wait to see everybody.

Especially Truck DRIVING HIS OWN SCRAMBLER!

Truck does not own a scrambler, he takes pictures of someone elses. I'll believe it when I see it.:wave:;):D

Just kidding Truck, I really hope your able to get yours done in time for the nationals. If you remember I showed up 2 days late to Clayton with my new scrambler. So get busy and get yours done.

wow.. trucks mythical scrambler

seems like trucks scrambler is starting to be even more mythical that me having a scrambler these days.. how strange is that..!!!

no scrambler for me on this trip.... just fixed a 06 rubicon LJ and got it back on the road last week. plan is hopefully to just drive it over there w/ the family. Hopefully can clear the last 2 obstacles of coming getting title and plates for it, and getting out of a jury duty for next friday (still awaiting word on that)..

looking forward to seeing everyone... hopefully a little cooler over there than it has been here the last two days 100 degrees +.

Hope the dry spell ends. Call in sick to work and get busy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone staying in Cookeville over the weekend? I am looking for a ride down to the park on Saturday morning. My family and I are staying at the Fairfield in Cookeville and I would like to leave the van with them to keep them entertained while I go to Nationals all day Saturday. I am riding with Bobcat on the trails but would really appreciate a lift down to Sparta. You can get me on here or call me anytime 270-547-1773.
Thanks
Kent

PLEASE NOTE: ANYONE STAYING AT GOLDEN MOUNTAIN OR WHEELING ON ADDITIONAL DAYS OUTSIDE THE NATIONAL

We have been made aware that Golden Mountain CANNOT accept credit cards at the park. They are also requiring a deposit on all campsite/RV/bunkhouse reservations. If you are planning on staying there, PLEASE go to their site (http://www.goldenmountainpark.com/) and you can pay via PayPal for either a deposit or your full stay and that way you can use a credit card. Once you are on site, it's all cash or check.

The fee for the trail riding for the National is part of your registration fee so you're covered when you paid your registration but any lodging reservations need to be handled separately.

They are also requiring a deposit on all campsite/RV/bunkhouse reservations.

Help me understand this Eric. I called a few weeks ago and made a reservation for an RV site. They did not request a deposit at the time of booking. So you are saying that they are NOW requiring a deposit on a reservation they took weeks ago? And how much of a deposit?
I don't (won't) use Paypal, so if they don't have a deposit am I losing the site that they confirmed reserved weeks ago?

I know this is not your doing but what brought this on?

Ok, I'd say just call and confirm and ask about the deposit. Sorry for the confusion.

The park is going through some management changes, that's the root of all of this. There's a lot of policies and rates changing for them right now BUT they are going out of their way to honor our agreements with them from before the changes.

The board just didn't want anyone caught off-guard thinking that they'd have credit card capabilities and having to deal with it.

So if you already made a reservation, it's probably a good idea to just call and confirm it and ask if you're good to go.
