I found on mine that the inside of the front and rear doors were sprayed with Ziebart too.

I am bad about taking pics. I will be sure to do more as I work. Here are a few I snapped today of the rear axle / disc brakes. Note the drain plug on the rear dif cover. Thought that was neat. The rear also has been upgraded to 1 piece axles. Will be interesting to see if it has stock gears in it

Got ALOT more done yesterday. I am amazed at the quality / condition of this frame considering the environment in which it was utilized. Thank goodness AMC coated the frames. You can still see remnants of the coating in the pics. I had ONE bolt break on me, that's it! One of the rear frame spring hanger bolts. That is what I am getting ready to start on after finishing this post then move on to axle disassembly.

You will see in one pic the metal plates used to strengthen the rear of the frames as @bigwalton mentioned earlier. Also, you will see where the steering box has an extra brace.

NOTE: the frame is upside down in all the pics.

I honestly don’t remember that extra piece to the steering box mount. I now have a MORE relocation unit that I had them ship me unassembled so I could have it welded together mirrored

Interesting. It looks “too good” to be an aftermarket add on but then again who knows. The holes in the frame are perfectly drilled as well. Maybe I’m being to judgmental of POs. LOL

This could entirely be my memory, I wasn’t questioning you, just stating that I can’t remember it. Remember this: I’ve never dealt with another CJ before mine, so back then I may have not noticed it as different.

Oh I know you weren’t questioning…. Was just making a joke.
I gotta say working on the Postal has been a fun challenge. Multiple nuances that I’ve never dealt with will many past CJs.

And here I thought the 1976 Levi CJ7 I worked on had weird first year differences

Not on either of my 2 RHD 8s and i dont remember seeing that brace on any RHD CJ i have stripped down either.
Need to ask the Overlander owners to narrow down if its Postal specific,later model specific or just @AdamH specific...

Not found on my overlander. Might be something added to latter production versions, or is a Postal only item.

Taking the frame and other bits to powder coater tomorrow. Awesome that the serial number still shows on the frame. I’ve never built a CJ that didn’t have the numbers showing. I guess I’m lucky. Much clearer in person. Will be easy to see after powder coat.

Yep seems to be 3 pieces on my Postal - difficult to tell on the pic - the parts manual may be a better bet.

powder coater said 7-10 business days more than likely. Not sure of the brand but my powder coater uses "Satin Black 20%" which is a dead ringer for the factory color / sheen in my opinion for when you don't want to use paint. 48 pieces in all dropped off

Can anyone ID these springs? The Postal has some sort of lift kit on it and I'd like to know brand and size. The front springs don't have any part numbers that I can find. The rears have what is shown below. The only two companies that come to mind with yellow font would be OME and Superlift. However neither seem to have a part number like this nor in this layout - at least from my quick searching. Thoughts?

I know I can start measuring and get a rough idea on size assuming little to no sag but figured if someone could ID these that would be much faster.

OK - thanks for the help. I just found out that Crown now uses the same color / font for theirs but no where close in part numbers. I appreciate your help.

BDS 2.5” ordered.

Picked up first batch of powder coat today. The frame serial number really pops. Will pick up the axle housings early next week
