It was suggested to have a thread of cool vehicles we used to own. Here are some of mine

I love this thread already. I'm getting images of everyone digging into old picture albums and drives looking for these gems. Great idea and I can't wait to get a glimpse of these vehicles. It helps to tell the story of who we are.
 
Well, here's where it all began for me:

The first car I actually owned was a '72 VW Bug. I drove this through high school and college... this poor car took a beating:

When I was in the Marines, I drove a '78 VW Bus. I literally drove this from coast to coast (Ocean City, Maryland to Santa Cruz, California). This is one of the greatest vehicles I've ever owned:

I eventually came back around to Jeeps, with this '85 CJ7. This is the one I never should have let go. I miss all my old cars to some extent, but this CJ7 is the one I should have kept. I had a lot of fun times in this Jeep:

Then I decided to modernize with this '97 XJ. This was a pretty good car too, but I had a heck of a time getting in and out of those tiny doors. The lift and tires helped, but this one just wasn't built for tall people:

And, of course, you guys have seen my '82 Scrambler a few times. This is right up there with the VW Bus! I don't like brown paint very much... but brown paint seems to like me. I won't make the same mistake with this one as I did with the CJ7:

This is where things got started for me. My dads 1958 Jeep. Then in the 60s an old scout we would go around on the ranch. I’ve never been a huge car guy, so no big blocks for me. Loving seeing these vehicles.

And I have not included vehicles like my POS 1990 F250 with an awesome paint job, and vehicles we got for the kids (other than the impala).
 
I’ve had a busy few days, so hopefully I’ll get my contributions posted this weekend. There are some real cool rides here! CJ7Pilot- one of the reasons I’ve been busy is I’m picking up a vehicle that’s an exact twin to one of yours tomorrow. All day trip, hopefully worth it.

I have only ever owned Jeeps, so nothing but Jeep pictures from me :thumbsup:

Will list this one, save this spot for a picture, if I can find one. My first vehicle/Jeep at 15 was a 1978 CJ7. 31's, 258, T150, Dana 20, 3.54 gears, Detroit with stock two piece axles out back. Will look for a picture and post one.

EDIT - found picture, not the best. The Jeep was originally red, me and my dad repainted a dark forest green, DuPont Emron paint, had a headache for a week LOL!!! This picture is from 1994, senior in high school. I turned 18 that November, and asked for/received a Basset Hound as my present, which I named CJ!!!

First '78 CJ7 was stolen, stripped, recovered, so I bought another '78 from a friend from college. To keep it brief, 304, T18, Dana 20, Full Float 20 with Detroit, Dana 30 with internal mount hubs, 44 shafts, Aussie Locker, 2.5" lift. This was my daily driver all through college, never let me down. Became a trail Jeep that I beat on pretty good, sold it to finish off my red Scrambler.

I graduated college in the spring of 2005 (HS in 1995, so 10 years, not a doctor, worked my way through and had some fun along the way LOL). Bought a brand new 2005 Jeep TJ Rubicon as a daily driver, kept it for 8 years/165000 miles. It remained stock, had the 6 speed, it was a great Jeep (ignore the lame Jamboree in the foreground, LOL, NOT mine).

In 2013, traded the white TJ for a 2005 LJ Rubicon. It only had 20,000 miles on it. Daily drove this for 7 years, sold it to my sister/nephew so he could have a (reliable) Jeep in high school. He graduated, got a new truck, so I just bought it back, will probably list it soon. Besides the PCM going out in around 2015, swapped in a fuel pump earlier this year, it has been a reliable vehicle.

Bought this 1984 Scrambler off this website back in 2011. Sold it in 2019 to Dennis/Lacy. It was a "project" Jeep for me that I kept for several years. It went to South Dakota with me, and to quite a few Sand Blast events. Great Jeep that I enjoyed, glad to see the new owner(s) enjoying it more!! TBI 350, 700R4, 4.10 gears, Detroit and FF rear, internal mount hubs/44 shafts/Tru-Trac in the front, RE 4.5" springs.........................................

I had this 2020 Gladiator, it had some "issues", I now have an almost identical 2022 Gladiator as a replacement daily driver.

Ok, in back home, so here’s the skinny. I rented a trailer and drove about 3 hours (each way) with the intention of picking up a 1978 VW Bus that is an exact twin for the one CJ7Pilot owned. Except for that the one I looked at was badly misrepresented. No rust= none that has penetrated through. Original paint= on one side. Cracks in original paint = bondo about to fall off on the repainted side. Rebuilt engine 20k ago= who knowns when because I don’t think the odometer works. Needs minor tune= runs like crap, barely at all, and leaks oil. Sure it’s rebuilt.

Anyways, no bus, out 22 gallons of $5.49 gas, $62 for a trailer rental. But I sorta enjoyed the drive, so it’s not a total loss. And Carol said she’d take me out to dinner and drinks for my effort. That’s a win.
