$260 for the 4.2L 6 cyl upgrade. At that price there never should have been any 4 cyl sold. Love that window sticker.
 
Adding power steering cost more than the 6 cyl upgrade. And the larger fuel tank was only another $55. You're right AJ, there shouldn't have been any four bangers.

Yes. But speaking in a not buying it voice so I guess I can't. 25k plus is Alotta change for a base model with some weirdities going for it. 35 K and more would be better spent on the best surviving examples of SRs and SLs out there IMHO

Good eye, did not even pickup on the fact that power steering upgrade cost more than the engine upgrade.

Yep. The denim seats were a $120 option

The option pricing kills me on these things. $198 for an AM/FM radio, but upgrading engines was only $260.

This one does have a T176 with 3.31. Usually see 2.73's with the T176 and 3.31's with the T5.

If only I could go back and pick the options when dad ordered our Scrambler. I was 9 at the time.

Agreed, that is a bunch of under carriage surface rust for a "garage kept its entire life" Jeep :twocents:

Must have been a very leaky garage :shrug:
 
It honestly does nothing for me. The pics do not live up to the description if you ask me. But hey, they guy knows how to word an add to get folks to shell out some $$

Ours has been under shelter it's entire life, but has that patina on the axles/springs/etc. Humidity here is enough to get some surface rust given the half-assed paint they put on the chassis from the factory. I'd think you'd have the same thing down in LA.

I'm from south Mississippi, NOT south Louisiana !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL :rotfl:

My green Scrambler is a "spent its entire life in MS" Scrambler, no surface rust like that underneath it. It has been an inside Jeep most of its life, either garage or metal building.

If left outside for 30 years, yes, it would have that kind of surface rust :thumbsup:

Ohhhh, my mistake. That's like accusing someone in Arkansas of being from Oklahoma. My apologies.

Our Jeep has 4600ish miles on it, was parked in an enclosed garage for the first 15 years or so, and has been under a carport ever since. I looked at the pics again and it's not as bad as the Jeep on ebay but undercarriage paint does have light surface rust on it. My CJ-7 was the same way when I bought it in 1993 with 29K on it. I painted it all with phospho and then rustoleum. Haven't done the same with the Scrambler.

Of course, the Scrambler seems to have an especially crappy paint job. Flaking off in more than a few places. Undercarriage almost has just a flash coat of paint on it.

There's a lot of people taking a shot this man's CJ8 ad but the bids are already up to 29,000. I haven't seen many originals in that good of shape.

It is a nice Scrambler, but I have definitely seen "more" sell for much "less" :twocents:

Glad to see a Scrambler selling for so much, wonder if it will actually sell, or just fake bids :shrug:
 
If it is original paint with no rust (where it can be polished up) and original miles it would be worth somewhere in this price range. Once you paint/repair to a true collector it doesn't look the same. New paint (with spot welds cleaned up) may look nice but it's not the same look to a real collector. Also if you consider what is put into restoring one to stock with a new metal (not blasting the rust off and doing patch welding even if you don't see the patch) this is still cheaper and new owner doesn't have to worry a few years down the line that the rust will come back. This will probably end up being a garage jeep that is only driven a few times a year (if that) and hopefully saved for our grand children to see 20 yrs from now.

UK Number plate linked from UK Ebay, there is 0.70p to 1 dollar at the moment...so thats $93262.75 safe to say i wouldn't be buying even if i owned a 7!
