It's time to start making some changes.....

After looking a little closer at the Jeep this AM I found I gained some street credit with this addition. A little gift from the rock gods... uploadfromtaptalk1397608999040.jpg

I probably will not be wheeling as had in Moab as I did last weekend. My 4yr old is a bit of a whiner and he doesn't like "bumpy" so him banging around in the back seat is questionable. My 2yr old is a different story. Maybe by the end of the first day he'll reconsider and then we can get on some of the harder trails where this thing should be in the first place........

1200 miles so far on this new drive train with no issues. You just have to love these newer motors. This thing now has a sweet spot between 70-75 mpg and is super happy. Trans temps on the road now are about 1 80 and pushing hard up the grades it gets to 210f. Wheeling it the temps get down to about 170f. So far so good.

What is the highway MPG:shrug:

Looks great:thumbsup::drool::cheers:

I don't know the exact road mileage but it appears in the low 20's. Sometime after Moab I'll run it up to Flagstaff and check it to get a number. It'll have to be a combined mileage since Flagstaff is 7k ft.

That sounds awesome:drool::drool:

And at 75mph it runs off of the thermostat too. With a lower rpm and more efficient cooling system everything gets happy.

The thermostat is closing to keep the motor up to temperature.

You going to Moab tower210?

I wish....... We have a bucket list trip coming up this fall, combined with the previous year vacation being sucked up by the 18month old.....Not enough vacation.

Whats the deal with that 350 you yanked out?? debating engines for my own.. curious as to the reason for your swap..???

If I remember right they are Twisted Stitch with synthetic inserts. The belts I can't recall who made them.

It's time to update this thread since it's been a long time since it was put together. After putting on 6000 miles and wheeling it at the National event and locally, it was time to put it up on a lift and inspect it. The only problem that I have had so far has been that it sheared off both of the transfer case mount bolts. That was a build failure of mine though. When I assembled the rear cross member and mounts, I had issues having some clarity on what needed to be built. I knew that the biscuit mounts would not work if the frame twisted but I ended up going that route anyhow. I'm sure I made that decision at about 5am after whaling on this thing for weekends on end and getting burned out in the meantime. The only other issue that I came across is the front driveshaft obviously started to rub on the transmission case at some time while it was crossed up. That's a good example of forced articulation. I had enough(not much) clearance flexing the Jeep on the forklift but apparently not enough for real world. So now I need to do some lathe work to make some clearance to the shaft.
So today's project was to redesign the rear mount. I also needed to update the engine calibration for this combination too since I ended up doing a partial tune because I ran out of injector size because this combination makes more horsepower than the stock configuration. Maybe tomorrow I can change out the injectors and get a final tune done. Besides, I really want to see how much horsepower it'll make anyways. It has to be good with a .617 lift camshaft and a small overlap camshaft.

So now that the motor side of things are almost sorted out, now it's time to pull the cage and start installing the dash and design a new cage to work with it.
