The Magnaflow I have is great. Wife doesnt complain at all. We have driven it a lot , Kentucky last year, Moab in May, Michigan multiple times now. AND she uses it to get groceries in the summer!!!
I like your thinking with the electric cut out. :D
 
two 2.5" pipes into a single 3" magnaflow on mine with a cat converter. I really like the sound - No drone or obnoxious noise level
 
Today I spent most of the day rebuilding my complete exhaust from the front y-pipe to the rear(for the second time). Earlier this week I got my 14" resonator(race muffler) in but quickly decided that it was not going to make much if any change in the exhaust tone. So I decided to get a 24" glass packed muffler and shoehorn it into the Jeep. One of the hardest parts that I have to deal with is that I am flat bellied which means that nothing hangs below the bottom of the frame. The problem with that is the cross members have to go some where and they take up 1.5" of the frame height. I am running a 1" body lift so I have a little bit of room. So you can do the math if I have a 3" sewer pipe exhaust and it can not touch the body or any cross members. Here is a pic of the pieces I built today. Some time later I'll yank it all out and get ceramic coated. I will say that the noise is cut down considerably. It's still loud if you're hard in the throttle but is MUCH more manageable driving it on the city streets though.....

It's what I do for a living. As I'm building mine, I'm also in the process of putting a LS3 into my dad's Nova too... Never a dull and quiet day for me......

So I've been slacking lately and I figured I'd show a little progress. I ended up cutting off the rear spring perches and putting some anti-wrap type of there to help with getting some better control over these RE springs. Of course they just bolt in..Not. With the extra length, they did not sit flush and needed to be "recurved" to fit the springs. The springs even when compressed, will never go flat with my bump stops installed. So here are some pics of the changes. It helped TREMENDOUSLY with my spring wrap and rear steer with the Detroit I have in the back. Hopefully this weekend I can get back into the swing of things and get the rear seats mounted for the kids and some front end work done.

I told the story last week of what would have happened if "Joe Shmoe" installed them with out recurving them. They would be bitching that they are the biggest POS and their U-bolts always kept getting loose(after they wrapped the housing the first time and blew up their driveshaft) after the install.
 
One piece at a time it keeps getting closer to being done for moab. I got the seats for the two boys done today. The cup holders are mounted and just one grab handle for each of them for now. If they were down at the shop today they may have got the center handles. Those I'll have to be creative to fit two handles in there without hitting their knees. Maybe sometime later. Off to start on something else on this long list.
