This holiday I was able to modify a XJ leaf and add it to the rear spring pack due to all of the crap(weight) I have behind my rear axle which really beat on the springs. I already changed the rear springs to the RE1451 springs which had the higher spring rate but in reality it just wasn't enough. SO now that the packs are together, I gained back about 1.75" that I had lost. While I was at it, I did notice the mil wrap spring has been rubbing on the spring hanger on the inside. Anybody else ever notice that? I plan to link up the tail anyhow so it's not a big deal to me but just wanted others to keep an eye out for it in case they had weird vibrations from the chassis.
On a side note, I did get to take the Jeep home yesterday. I now have about 40 miles on the set-up now. With my 35's and 4.10 gears, I really feel the need to go deeper with my gears now with a 5.13 or 5.38. I really don't mind having the low RPM at 65 but I really don't want a possible top speed of 140mph either. Going 50mph, I'm cruising at about 1650rpm. Great for mileage but not for performance. One other issue I ran into with the 4L80E is holding manual 1st gear. The ECU will over ride the manual 1st gear command and will shift to 2nd gear. In the EfiLive software, there apparently is a calibration map to fix this but unfortunately that is inaccessible at this time. So I'm going to need to talk with Hughes and make a valve body change so I can have manual 1st gear.....Note to self...... Other than that, the only other issue so far is the rear pinion needs to come up a bit. The engine/trans change moved back about 1.75" so my driveline angle is just out of tolerance now and has some vibration under load. Lol....Surely it's not because I'm standing in the throttle more...... Once I get all of this sorted out, I'll post up the pro street burnout......
