Meet Red, my 81 Restomod Build

I was SO impressed with my Painless harness. Solved all my electrical gremlins at once. It was a simple plug- and- play improvement..... if only everything were that easy.

No it’s an E-Z Wire kit. They are surprisingly affordable and well made.

This was my experience also. Used to get stranded all the time. Not once since this!

Opinion…I probably won’t be driving this in the winter…but just in case…heated seats? Yes or no? Now is the time to order them if I want to. I already forgot to get a backup camera (need the wiring to place in the rear harness) so that held me up a couple of days. What are your thoughts?

I would. My wife uses hers 360 days per year.

Whatever the weather, sometimes a heated seat can feel great on a bad/sore back…I have experience on this one.

Let me know if in your search you find cooling seats. Heated might get used around here once a year, but cooling 8 months a year.
I would love to have cooled seats. When I worked for Ford theirs used a small fan and a grid like a camping referigetator. They weren’t bad but took a lot of space in the seats.

If you have them you don’t need to use them.

If you don’t have them you CANNOT use them.

There were some cooling kits on Amazon. They consisted of some expanded mesh pads and 4 tiny fans. I couldn’t tell how the fans installed into the seats, and the pads looked like they would squash flat if you were “XL”. The reviews were good, except a larger guy that said he compressed the seat enough that the fans couldn’t circulate air. Sounds a bit iffy.1E54C55B-547C-4956-A641-A775A8273A59.png

More wire work. Thinning and configuring the E-Z harness to fit my needs. No easy way to go about it- just takes time and effort. And a good memory- making lists of what all what will be up front, where the stereo brain will mount, etc. then building bundles with a gazillion zip ties that will get removed and covered with split braid loom when it’s all finalized. I also built a plate to cover the hole for the bulkhead connector. There’s an outlet with a cover that will cover the grommet that the wires go through. It will all be painted satin black 5705160D-3D18-4AA5-81DB-79F87698613A.jpeg419216E4-AAFD-401B-90B5-881D483444D3.jpeg7E1BFF4E-846F-4E00-B23A-A2746DE8D81C.jpeg

I spent the weekend,Monday and Tuesday doing yard cleanup (filled a 10 yard bin full of scrap lumber and other pack-rat worthy stuff, along with a 5x8 trailer 2’ deep with scrap metal). So, when a box from the seat upholstery place showed up just now, it was the boost I needed! My seat upholstery! I’m really pleased! The overall appearance is great and the sewing looks top notch. I’ll know once they go on, but here’s some pics. Love the color! It’s going to take a while before I install them- I manage to pull something in my right arm and lifting is super painful…A1D5CC4B-2488-4F93-89AA-A0ED0E5C9277.jpeg1EF8976B-E225-40A5-B486-8808A9DFEFD3.jpegD2FB833B-1AB4-4282-AE96-1F3FB6F91BD8.jpeg
