Now that’s thinking outside of the box! Pretty cool! What engine? Are you going to enclose the engine compartment with a hood and fenders? I’ll bet it will drive and handle great when you’re done. Keep us posted on your progress.

How does the wheelbase match up to the CJ8? Looks like a good way to get the updated drive train.

I have to say, that is not a combination I have ever thought of... nice choice on grille as well.

Engine is a LS2 6.0 390hp

The frame is long for the body. I’m leaving it as is. Motor exposed. If you cut the frame to shorten it would be perfect. You would need a new gas tank, shorten drive shaft, and re do the brake lines.

Yes Cleveland Power. It’s a automatic. The 6 speed manual would have been nice. I was worried about the linkage though.... This is my first “build”

Thanks guys.

Here is my First Start

I used the existing body mounts and just welded on risers. More pics.

Interesting. There are a few “LONG” extended one piece front clips used for Sand Drag Jeeps that would look perfect on your new toy. I’ll see if I can dig up a picture of one for you.

2 things... is it legal in your state for the wheels to be out that much? I know up here they wouldn't go for it without some extended flares.

also, check your tailgate hinges... 180 out of phase.

Thanks about the hinges!!

No open wheel laws here for non Commercial

I’m liking the open engine, but thanks for the pics.

Maybe these though....

I started the build with the plans on (4) 35-37” off road tires..... The tires on it now came with the rolling chassis and I’m thinking I like the weird look about it.

On the front, the left rim and tire need replaced. Tire has a gash and the rim is rusted out.

I’m looking for a roll bar kit. Don’t want it to go to the windshield though. I want the standard roll bar but have it go all the way back tom the rear of the bed..... Any thing out there or do I have to fab it?

This may sound crazy but i wonder how it would look with a stretched hood and open sides like a Coupe?

1932-ford-coupe-hemi-1896-nw.jpg

Or....stretched hood with scoop poking through, and those fenders you pictures with the back extended to fill the open area. That would be cool!

And...you can reverse the LS intake with a few minor mods and have the throttle body point backwards. Then you could plumb the scoop in...and there's plenty of room for a couple turbos then- two big side mounted intercoolers...Somebody stop me!!!

Would look great!!! But for this build I’m leaving as is....

Will the roll bar have frame tie ins? Six people/seats and a roll bar and that kind of HP with those exceptionally tall risers on the body mounts is going to result in a ton of additional leverage on those stock body mounts.
