Been a while again since a update........been working on other projects this winter in the shop.
I did get as much as possible done on the air shift, just valve mounting and plumbing after it's installed.
And a friend of mine brought over a 2008 Pontiac G8 GT that was crashed. It has the L76 6.0 liter and a 6l80 Trans...
So I got sucked into doing the Harness and programming. Willingly since I hadn't done one that new.
Once that was almost done, I got a serious bug for wanting a 6l80 (4.0 1st to .65 O.D.) and fully programmable. Knowing I didn't have time before spring I gave my Transmission guy the go ahead to finish the 700r4 for this summer.
Then I started searching for a 6l80, and matching motor to make it work
Then I found this............
It's a 2016 Chevy 1500 Z71
It has a direct injected 5.3 with a 6l80, And it was wrecked about as bad as I've seen. It went through the trees at a high rate of speed. They said it took about six trees to stop him. And he WALKED away.
The only damage I've found so far is the oil filter was ripped off, so it may need a new oil pan.
The plan at this point is to work on getting it fired up, then work on wiring and install parts this summer. That way next fall I can install.
If it works out I plan on using the steering column if it fits. and keeping the BCM functional to run the tap shift, tow haul, cruise, and remote start.

we'll see, I've never tried keeping the BCM working
