Hello and thanks for having me be apart of this Forum.
ah. were to start.
Well I'm married with 3 children ages 5,13, and 14. The oldest is a boy. I was born and raised in South Miami Dade county. Did a 4 year hitch with the USN stationed in San Diego from 89-93 and did 2 tours in the Gulf and a month a mile out of Somalia (got out the month of Black Hawk Down). Seperated from the USN and came back home to complete my paramedic and FF training and have been employed as a FF for 15+ years. I like to fish, hunt, Dive, camp and general exploration of the out doors when I can.
I have always liked Jeeps. When I was growing up my neighbor had a cj5 and thought to myself that I would have one one day. After getting out of the Navy I had enough money when I got out that I bought a brand new Hunter green 93 wrangler. My first new car. I Loved that jeep and should have kept it. But got married and our first child on the way we decided to get rid of it for a larger truck for safety reasons. 7 years later our friends was selling their jeep and we bought it. Yep it was a black 82 scrambler with 72k orig miles and had been some what worked on and looked good enough. Put a back seat in for the 2 kids now and we really enjoyed. I stumbled into this scrambler as I wasn't really to knowledgeable of them. Any ways a few years went by and a 3rd child was born, the areas on the jeep that had been worked on before started to rust again. Cause they used Bondo and didn't cut it out. I consider my self a Jack of all trades and "I Know a thing or 2 about a thing or 2", That's what I tell my wife anways. Well I am Mr. Mom when not on shift and with 3 kids I really don't have the time I need to due what I want to due. Also my car port was turned into living space so I have that going against me too. The wife gave me a choice sell it or make it right.
Well she is currently in the shop at planet Off Road. Couldn't afford a frame off build. So I'm getting the next best thing, I hope. They will be cutting out all rust spots stripping paint down to bare metal and fabing with new metal were needed ( Not really that bad frame is solid as well as undercarriage just some panel problems), 2.5 rancho lift, new seats, new smitty built console, clean up wires, clean up engine compartment and upgraded starter, carb, and electrical, get rid of emmissions stuff, new exhaust, under carriage treatment, spray in bed liner throughout interior, tail lights running lights/ markers, guages (I would like to get a set from Joe West but I don't think I have anythig for trade), rubber fender guards, radio system, new hood, new widow frame, check brake system, and I'm guessing will find something else. Having it paint stinger yellow with a few clear coates. ( 2012 Super Bee paint code pyv)
Lets say I'm excited and this is how I stumbled onto this forum. Thanks for everything Ray.
