Wow Randy, those Centerlines look awesome on there! I thought I liked the Bullets before, but I think these are even better!

Still trying to come up with the perfect scale combo for your mini Scrambler :D

Thanks, Jeff! I'll try and get the measurements to you soon...

I still have one set of the Bullets. They will eventually get powdercoated and used for winter wheels with either an all-terrain or a studded mud tire.

I might have missed it....... too much beer...lol
what size tires/rims?
looken good.
thanks,

Man i love reading this thread!! looks sweet!

quick question, I was wondering why you went with a 5.3 instead of a 6.0?

Thanks for the compliments!

7/7- tires are 35/12.50/15 BFG KM2's on 15X8.5 Centerline HT2 cast wheels.

84- I picked the 5.3 for fuel economy reasons primarily- having worked for GM I know a 5.3 will get better economy than a 6.0. I have heard a similar built Scrambler getting over 25mpg on the highway. This will be my daily driver when done. I started this part of the build when gas was over $4 a gallon... Plus I was able to get a great deal on a low mile 5.3, they wouldn't deal on 6.0's.

Still working on the Scrambler, although the Bus (or should I say, The Wife has kept me away from it for a few weekends.) Plus we brought another Bus home for parts...I just loved the paint job...:D:eek::rolleyes::smokin::shrug:

I just finished the Scrambler's seat mount pass side. I have been banging my head against the wall trying to come up with a dash layout I like. I think I've built about 6 dashes out of cardboard, and found something wrong with each one.:banghead:

Plus, I have been saving and just spent my "discretionary" budget on a Sig 556 rifle. I have been missing my AR since I sold it, and have been wanting a Sig ever since I first saw/shot it. Found a private party deal I couldn't pass up. It should come in tomorrow, here's a stock photo for those interested in such hardware.

Somehow I'm having trouble picturing the same person owning a VW bus AND a Sig 556. :p

I got a Sig 522 last year, it makes me think I "need" a 556 to go with it (and my AR's).

Sort of like one of my childhood heroes- Kwai Chang Caine (Kung Fu). A peaceful soul who is not afraid to look out for himself.

7/7- nice mag, but a little bulky for my tastes. If it was full auto, though...lotsa fun. I think my next purchase will be a quality optics system.

But first I need to get the Scrambler going!

Well, I went and bought some of the Savvy tail lamps. They are cool and heavy duty pieces. The bulk of the expense must be the billet housing, the lamps themselves are similar to the inserts sold by Quadratec under several manufacturers. The inserts actually say "made in taiwan" on their box. But...they are extremely bright, WAY brighter than the stock bulbs. The housings and the lenses fit together well, although I swapped the black phillips retaining screws for some stainless button head allens. The lights were made to fit a TJ, and a YJ with mods, so the fit on the CJ is a little less than optimal. They hang a bit low and intrude into the fuel filler opening when you use the existing holes in the tub. I plan on redrilling the housings about 1" higher, and also using a thin black foam gasket between the housing and the tub. You also have to splice in the connector from your old lamps- no biggie. Overall, I am happy with them, even with the fittment issues. They look more unique than the typical round trailer led's.

So, here's the pics.

Here's the overhang issue. There's room to raise them about 1", so that should do the trick.

Those look real nice.

Ok, now you have to tell me what's going on with those beefy U-bolts that you have in the upper mounts for the spare tire carrier

LED tail lights

Those look real nice:thumbsup: I do like that much better than flush mount. Does the driver side have the light to be able to use the license plate in the factory location? Last few times I have gotten an inspection they read what is on the taillights and extra brakelight. What is stamped on those? I also like the way the holes for the OEM carrier are taken care of and will have to start looking for something:cool:

The drivers side light does not have any license lamp provision. I will be having a tire carrier and relocate the license anyways. The lenses are all embossed "dot approved".

Eric- those u bolts are actually heavy cable clamps that happened to fit the holes for the tire carrier. I didn't want to have bolt heads there when I removed the carrier. They come in handy for tie downs, or hooking up a run rope for the dog, I've even used them for one end of a hammock when camping!

So, I got the lights mounted properly this weekend. Looks like the factory location can't be used for mounting screws because three protrusions on the led lenses fit into the factory holes (which handily are located in the new housings). So, the only real choice was to drill the tub. So, I mounted the housing using the three locating holes and marked the new hole locations.

This didn't leave any room for the wiring harness, so I enlarged that hole too...

Cut some gaskets from some black sheet foam.

And with only minor trimming the fuel filler insert fits. I have a stainless one on the way, gotta match the tail lamp "Bling".

Looks better now that they are in the factory location...

Next weekend project was actually on my trailer. I had picked up a Harbor Freight bed hoist last summer- too cheap to pass up. I finally got around to mounting it up on the tongue of my trailer. Swings 360*, will lift 1000 lbs, extends out far enough to pick up a D60 rear off the ground and set it into the trailer with almost no effort! I should have done this a long time ago!
