Randyzzz Scrambler Restification Thread!

After the first scrach to the metal from the first trail run dose it matter?
Looks great as is.

FWIW Randy, my CJ 5 was Renegade orange and i coated the dash i made in the same silver vein and i thought it looked great. Same wheels too!

That said, that copper is one of my favorite colors for a cj and i dont think it looks bad at all,

Since you have already painted some of your hard to paint parts copper, i would stck with that color. I think it will look great.

I'm still leaning towards copper. Probably what I'll stick with, I just like the color.

Chipping away at it. Got the evap line ran, just have to hang the canister. Using a small Ford unit by the rollover valve in the rear corner.

Also pulled the injectors. Left them as an assembly. I took a clear hose, clamped it to the fuel inlet, filled the whole thing with Seafoam, and let it sit for an hour. Then hooked up the shop air, set the regulator at 60 psi, and using a battery and test leads, let each injector spray a bit. First was the nasty smell of old gas, followed by Seafoam. All but one of them had a decent pattern, and the one that didn't also was dripping. Bummer. I removed it from the rail, and using the same hose/air contraption, did a reverse flush and then forwards again. It no longer drips, but the pattern is 4 weak streams instead of a fine spray. It's soaking in Seafoam overnight, if that doesn't break it free I might have to buy another.

Saturday was the huge car show/cruise in Bend. Wow, were there some nice cars there, and a contingent of sweet older Broncos too. Too bad they won't let anything newer than 74 show, or I'd be entering the Scrambler next year. My powdercoater wants to use it as a display in his booth next year, so at least I'll get to cruise afterwards. Too Cool...

Dude, very cool idea with the injector clean/test! Sorry one isn't firing off for you, hopefully it just wanted more soak.

I was hoping, but I think I have a dead injector. It clicks fine, but the spray pattern even after soaking overnight is either weak or now it just drips. Almost like there's no pressure, or an inlet restriction. Hopefully the $40 unit on EBay is the correct one, if not, that's a $95 injector...

i bought a set of 8 flow matched injectors from a Mustang (for the Jeep) for $100 ish on ebay. They were rebuild and flow matched (got the flow sheet with them). Only needed 6, so I have 2 spares. I cant remember who I bought them from but all they delt with was injectors.

Things are really looking good Randy. Great idea on cleaning the injectors, I will definately have to remember that when my time comes. Your build thread is just full of good tips and ideas.

Thanks!

On the injectors- mine is the flex-fuel version, so the injector is a 33-36lb unit that seems a bit harder to find. The EBay one is the wrong one of two possibilities, so I ordered in what i hope is the right one. I did find a set of 8 matched ones, for $350.00!!!

On a fun note, Columbia Overland and the Central Oregon Cruisers are putting on a 4X4/Expo vehicle show and shine, swap meet, ect this weekend. I'll be sure and take lots of pics...there was one of the Earthroamer JK's there a week or so ago...cool stuff.

Found a set of 4 injectors for $160. FiveOPerformance.com in case you're curious. The EBay one was the wrong number. I ordered the set of four, replaced one side complete. The other 4 were spraying great.

Got the fuel rails reinstalled installed tonite. Getting closer, maybe this weekend...

LED's modified and installed in dash panel (idiot lights/indicators). Chipping away at it.

I'm waiting on a update:cheers:

OK...last weekend was a bust work-wise because my wife's parents came and stayed for the weekend. There was Bend Brew Fest however...

This week I got the dash panel finished and installed (What a bear. I really have a lot going on behind the drivers dash panel.) Looks great IMHO.

So, after posting this I'm heading out to the garage. If all goes according to plan, I'll be able to post up a video of a running Scrambler before the weekend's over. Wish me luck!

Wishes....
