Replacing the threads in back edge of a half cab…

Someone was looking for a solution to replace the threads in the back of a half cab where it bolts down to the bulkhead. I can’t find that thread. I was getting my top out today and took pictures of my solution. I’ve tried redrilling the holes and using a larger bolt…it still pulled out. I tried helicoils, they didn’t really hold in the thin plate in there. I got a rivnut set and these seem to be a good solution, so far. I purchased the set from Amazon.

Did the nutsert grab the inner piece of steel or just the fiberglass?

I’m pretty sure it grabbed both pieces, but not sure. Either way, it’s in there very well and holds when tightened down. You can install these things in the side of a soda can and they’ll hold.

If you have a substrate that is unable to take the expansion of conventional rivnuts, these work great:

I just used a similar kit to add nutserts for the bulkhead. Worked great.

I was going to say a fat toggle of some sort would be good, those look awesome!
