steel

I got about 4 foot of the steel that is needed. So if any one needs some I have extra. Only problem is that Lowes was out of the bolts that are needed but I an going to a diferent spot in a bit.

Yes that will work for me I am going to leave my house about 930-1000 for a nice and easy ride with a stop for coffee and a donut somewhere.

If anything else needs to go up that way just let me know and I will grab it.

We had a good time and even cooked on the grill. The turn out was good, we had Truck, Splogue (Sean), Crossbones (Robert), Tom C, Grantshire (Richard), and Jerry (arriving late after family stuff). Calling in were Jeff (Z2W) and Mike (WT). We made some progress, but didn't finish a few sets of twin stick adapters. I had mine finished and installed for display purposes. Robert supplied and cooked the burgers and dogs and did a great job. Plenty of BSing. Tom got the distance award, he came from Maine, but did visit his daughter while down here. Truck got the award for the strangest vehicle (more-so than usual), someone will have to post the picture, but I think the camo and purple clash.
 
I wanna say thanks to John for hosting this event..good times and as is typical with most Jeep related things we had some hiccups while making the twin stick dohickeys..no worries it will get all sorted out. Sean will have to post the pic of my truck, it was his camera..

My thanks to John for hosting (putting up) the group and Robert for doing the cooking. It was a pleasure meeting those of you that came and great to swap stories. John's Scrambler is awesome and we all got a demonstration of the twin stick thingy. We kept John up kind of late and I hope everyone got home alright. I still think we should have put the light bar on truck's roll bar and I'm not sure John ever convinced his wife that the smell was Jerry and my cigars (See what the rest of you missed by not being there?).

Afternoons like that make me even more grateful I'm a Scrambler owner. Wish I could have stayed longer & seen Jerry. What time did you guys finish up? Maybe sometime we could pick a project for one Jeep & have everyone pitch in to complete it. I've got......well, never mind :D

I think it was about 9:15 when we left. I got home just before ten so it must have been after midnight when truck got home (he dropped Jerry off).

I came to learn how to do the twin stick but after seeing John's Scrambler and axles its back to the drawing board on mine! The wide stance and look of the Xenon flares is super, however, I would prefer axles that are about 2" narrower than John's. I am still trying to see if I can make my WT Chief axles work (I already have them). Decisions, decisions...

(All I have to say in defense is that it turned out to be a bunch of people sitting around drinking beer, not the pregnant ones of course).

Progress....

OK, more plates cut...working on the tubes.
Improvised some "new" production methods. Metal cutting blade in a bench grinder to cut slots, allows better control. A piece of angle steel in the vice on the drill press to drill the tubes straight in the middle.
Only one mishap, a spring loaded center punch into a finger tip :eek:

I just now read through this and looked at the pictures. Man, wish I could have made it up there for that little cookout.

The rollbar is classic. As Jeff would say... "I like your style". You bolted that thing on didn't you for actual rollover protection right?

Maybe next one I can make it up for.
